Overview
There has never been a more exciting time to work with us! With our leading research pipeline poised to launch more than 20 new medicines and indications within the next few years, and the expansion of our global Research & Development Hub in Mississauga, we have established one of the largest R&D footprints within the Canadian biopharmaceutical industry.
The expansion represents a significant investment in Canada, and is a testament to the diverse and highly-educated talent that exists here, our local world-class universities, hospitals and research centres, and the local AstraZeneca R&D team’s continued success in advancing our global clinical program.
Headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, we’ve been recognized as one of the Greater Toronto Area’s Top Employers for the ninth consecutive year. Our employee-centric way of working has earned us a number of other national awards for our culture and our employee benefits programs, and we continually look for new ways to make our people feel appreciated and valued for their contributions.
A place where people can thrive
Our people are the heartbeat of AstraZeneca Canada. We empower and support our employees by providing an environment fueled with growth and learning opportunities so they can reach their full potential. We also encourage employees to seek new experiences working across teams, functions and even the globe.
We believe in the power of an inclusive, diverse and equitable environment – because innovation requires breakthrough ideas that only come when employees are empowered to “speak up,” express their curiosity, and challenge conventional thinking. The AstraZeneca Employee Resource Groups – including Inclusion & Diversity, Network of Women (NOW), AZ Pride Canada and AZC Francophone Network – help raise diversity awareness and build a sense of community and belonging to ensure all voices are heard.
Finally, we understand the links between healthy people and a healthy environment. Sustainability in embedded in everything we do and we promote opportunities and encourage employees to contribute to building a healthier society and planet in ways that are meaningful for them – from supporting vulnerable children and families through Food Banks Canada and the Peel Children’s Aid Foundation to planting trees in partnership with One Tree Planted or the City of Mississauga’s One Million Trees program.
What we offer
We believe we are at our best, when our employees are at theirs. That’s why we offer a supportive and empowering culture, great growth and development opportunities, and top tier benefits.
Benefits and Wellbeing
We offer employees a well-rounded flexible benefits program to meet individual and family needs for both health care and dental expenses. Our extended health care benefits allow employees to opt for prescription drug coverage, vision care, fertility treatment, gender affirmation procedure support as well as other health and mental health options. We also have company-wide policies to support work-life balance and wellbeing, in addition to providing employees and their families with great resources, such as Teledoc Health – offering information, support and access to top medical experts. Upon hire, all of our employees are provided with 4 weeks’ vacation, in recognition of the importance of time away from work to reset and recharge.
Retirement Savings
Our competitive retirement savings programs and policies reflect both our commitment to the financial health and wellbeing of employees. Employees receive an automatic employer Pension contribution, and have the opportunity to contribute to the Optional Savings Plan, which attracts an additional company match. Opportunities to contribute to a Stock Purchase Plan as well as a TFSA are also available, which allow for further savings.
Flexible Extras
Supporting an individual’s whole-self is critical to helping them truly flourish. Alongside our wellness and financial benefits, we offer a range of extras to support employees and the big moments in life. From great maternity, parental and adoption leave support, to increased paid bereavement days, and our 12-week top-up for compassionate and critical illness leave, we look after our people. We also encourage continuing education through employee tuition assistance support.
