At AstraZeneca Sweden, we’re embarking on an exciting journey at an increasingly exciting time in our history. With big goals in place for 2025, we’re investing in better tech, diverse people and a more connected way of working. Here, we’re all about engaging, motivating and inspiring our people. That’s why, in our medical and strategic hubs across Sweden, we encourage everyone to be curious and creative, and most of all, be themselves. Find out how AstraZeneca embrace people from all backgrounds, beliefs and walks of life here.

With the opportunity to bring life-changing scientific discoveries to the surface and to improve lives across the globe, you can be sure to make a big difference with us. And, with 7,200 colleagues working together across two inclusive and fast-paced sites, this is a place where you can truly thrive.

Our sites

Sodertalje, Stockholm

Our Sodertalje site in the county of Stockholm is host to one of the largest manufacturing units of pharmaceuticals in the world – and the largest in all of AstraZeneca. It’s no wonder we’re known as the ‘heart of production’. From chemical production, formulation and packing, to marketing, sales, and delivery, on this site, we handle the whole process.

Did you know? The medicines delivered from our Sweden operations account for around 40% of AstraZeneca’s total sales value.

With 4,800 colleagues working together across multiple functions, this is an energetic, high-tech and LEAN environment, focused on continuous improvement and smart solutions. As you’ll see in Meral’s and Niklas’s Sodertalje stories below, you can expect to be challenged while finding opportunities to progress and develop.

Meet our Machine Operator, Meral:

Plus, with our site being in the heart of Stockholm county, you’ll be surrounded by stunning countryside, cultural towns and iconic Swedish design. Inspiration is never hard to find here, so why not explore yours in Sodertalje?

Meet our Key Account Manager, Niklas:

Home to one of AstraZeneca’s three strategic science centres, our Gothenburg site offers you the chance to delve into our entire world of research and innovation.

Our site itself has been designed with collaboration in mind. From dedicated social spaces to coffee labs, recharge rooms, a community garden and even a ‘walk and talk’ meeting trail which can often mean trailing off into some amazing spontaneous discussions. Our Gothenburg-based colleague, Hasse, would agree, this is where innovation happens. And where you could be at the centre of some impactful decisions.

Meet our Associate Principle Scientist, Hasse:

Working alongside 2,400 colleagues, you’ll feel the collaborative nature of our business, sharing your ideas with open minds and big thinkers. And, you’ll be among 50 different nationalities, such as our colleague below, Marina, who has relocated from her home in Greece and is now enjoying living and working in Gothenburg. The voices you’ll come to know here will be diverse, bringing fresh perspectives and bold inspiration.

Meet our IT Project Manager, Marina:

Working at AstraZeneca Sweden, you immediately realise that everybody is working towards a common goal. The engagement and the commitment that everyone has makes this a unique place to work.

What we offer

At AstraZeneca Sweden, when we see the chance to adapt and develop, we seize it – because for us, every opportunity, no matter how small, can be the beginning of something incredible. Delivering medicine that improves people's lives is about having an entrepreneurial spirit – finding the right moment and understanding its potential.

Although we are a global organisation, we are all about being there for our individual colleagues, helping them to be agile and bring out their inner entrepreneur. To instill this sense of value, we have a whole range of great perks in Sweden. Along with the standard benefits we offer as a global company – such as holiday, work-life balance, training and flexible working – we offer the following extras.

We believe that a healthy work environment leads to healthier levels of productivity. So, all our sites offer free employee access to exercise and healthcare facilities, in addition to activities and programs to promote health, wellbeing, motivation, and job satisfaction. In Sweden, we have a dedicated health and wellness centre, gym, sauna and ‘nap room’, all dedicated to encouraging better health and wellbeing in and out of work.

Great on-site amenities

It’s the Scandinavian way to look after your people. That’s why we go above and beyond when it comes to office perks. From doggy day-care and bike maintenance to expansive dining options and community gardens, our Sweden site amenities make coming to work on a Monday morning a pleasure.

People development

We strongly believe in creating careers, not day jobs. That means inspiring passionate colleagues to take their work a step further, to realise their potential and progress internally – with the average employee being promoted within 2 to 3 years. In support of this, we hold internal career days to encourage and promote people who deserve recognition.

As a global business, we have a duty to our colleagues around the world. In Sweden, we not only offer mentoring to ensure people are supported on an everyday basis, but we also hold an Empowerment Summit and manage our own science forums. Both of these initiatives engage our people through talks and celebrations.
