This individual will lead and complete projects for the US Oncology Medical Affairs team, ensuring timely delivery. The SPM partners with designated Franchise and Indication teams, supporting overall strategy and operational excellence. In this role, the Strategic Project Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams—including global, commercial, and medical colleagues—to drive project planning, execution, and communication. The SPM plays a critical role in capturing business requirements, assessing supplier solutions, managing risks, and proactively identifying opportunities to deliver results that support both franchise and broader Medical Affairs objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of multiple projects across Franchise and Indication teams, including development and execution of brand strategic plans supporting the US Oncology Medical Affairs organization.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor comprehensive project plans using project management tools to ensure alignment with business goals and objectives.
  • Manage timelines for business planning cycles, including coordination and support for the Integrated Medical Affairs Plan.
  • Provide operational leadership to the Medical Affairs Franchise team, ensuring the successful delivery of assigned projects and activities in collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Facilitate priority meetings for Franchise teams: set agendas, drive discussions, track key decisions, and ensure follow-up on action items.
  • Support the Franchise Head in business planning and collaborate cross-functionally with finance team, commercial team, and business specialists for franchise-level initiatives to support US Oncology’s business planning cycles
  • Identify and implement standard methodologies to streamline operations, improve processes, and drive consistency and efficiency across teams.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, trackers, and executive-level presentations.
  • Proactively communicate project status, issues, and risks to relevant collaborators and address concerns as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance standards, policies, and procedures, while supporting quality and project assurance activities.
  • Leverage tools (include AI) to build efficiencies within workstreams and day to day tasks

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the Strategic Project and Alliance Management Director, US Oncology Medical Affairs, with functional alignment to the Franchise/Functional team leadership. The SPM operates in a matrix environment, working closely with Franchise Heads, Medical Affairs colleagues, and cross-functional partners.

Essential Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree completion is mandatory
  • 3-5 years of Project Management experience, preferably in medical affairs, oncology, or related pharmaceutical environments
  • Strong communication (written and oral), organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in a matrixed, cross-functional environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results on time and within budget
  • Ability to leverage current AI tools and techniques to streamline processes and optimize ways of working.
  • Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with budget and finance planning

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • MBA or MS preferred
  • PMP Certification
  • Medical Affairs and/or Oncology experience is a plus
  • Experience with Six Sigma or Agile Project Management
