As a Regional Health System Specialist- BBU, you are at the forefront of driving positive change and crafting the future of health systems. With a clear focus on improving patient outcomes and enhancing the value of healthcare, your role is not just a job, but a calling to make a substantial impact on the well-being of patients across the region.
In this dynamic new role, you will lead the execution of the BBU Systems Strategy, working in close partnership with key partners in the Health System, (e.g. Hospital C-Suite, Association Presidents, etc.) to ensure alignment with our organizational goals. Your mission is to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with external partners, understanding their needs and aligning their priorities with AstraZeneca’s Transforming Care goals.
This is a field-based role that requires unwavering determination, proactive engagement, and a deep understanding of the sophisticated challenges within the healthcare ecosystem.
While the role is highly externally focused, successful collaboration with internal stakeholders is crucial to drive impactful solution design and execution while ensuring alignment across the organization.
Integral to supporting AstraZeneca’s 2030 Transforming Care Strategy the individual in this position is expected to apply expertise, focus and execution excellence to opportunities that will shape Canadian Healthcare ecosystems while fostering sustainable business growth proactively and optimally.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Reporting to Director, BBU Health Systems- Kim Loria, the Regional Health System Specialist- BBU will:
- Strategy: Implement the Health Systems Strategy, ensuring alignment with overarching organizational goals and market dynamics.
- Strategic External Customer Engagement:
- Identify and map key partners in the regional healthcare system, including hospital executives and association presidents, to guide strategic health system engagement.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external partners based on mapping, positioning AstraZeneca as a collaborative partner to co-create solutions that align with shared priorities.
- Formulate strategic account plans incorporating customer mapping, insights, shared objectives, actions, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Internal Partner Collaboration and Integrated Planning
- With 20% of time spent at Head Office, collaborate with colleagues in Medical, Health Systems Evidence, and Policy to achieve objectives. Role model teamwork and communication to unify departments towards common goals and apply shared expertise for effective results.
- Lead integrated planning, involving key cross-functional partners in strategic account plans to ensure alignment, role clarity, and performance.
- Partnership-Driven Solution Development: Proactively find opportunities to improve patient outcomes and co-create sustainable solutions with external partners, understanding their needs to improve health systems and aligning their priorities with AstraZeneca’s Transforming Care goals.
- Team Collaboration on Sustainable Design: Collaborate with a team of internal experts to strategically design, implement, and deliver evidence-based, sustainable solutions aimed at driving system change. Focus on achieving clearly defined desired outcomes and measurable KPIs, while actively engaging with crucial partners internally and externally, to integrate subject matter expertise into solution design and execution.
- Risk Assessment: Evaluates risks and creates robust mitigation plans, considering industry standards and AstraZeneca guidelines to develop sustainable solutions and partnerships.
- Resilient Goal Achievement: Show unwavering determination in achieving goals, skillfully navigating through sophisticated challenges and uncertainty to deliver to KPIs.
- This role is field based, with 80% of the time spent engaging with external partners. Twenty-five percent travel may be required.
Preferred Background:
To be successful in the role described, the following skills and preferred background would be beneficial:
- Proven capacity to think strategically at an enterprise level, leading the development and execution of impactful initiatives that are aligned with organizational objectives and priorities.
- 10+ years’ experience, working in externally facing pharmaceutical roles, with demonstrated ability to engage, partner and collaborate with team members including Hospital C-Suite and Association Presidents.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in complex, ambiguous Health Systems. Ability to build in-depth knowledge of health systems and networks, with ability to map customers.
- Demonstrated risk assessment skills including knowledge of industry and organization codes/standards and ability to leverage contracting to drive desired outcomes.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and leadership with demonstrated success in partnering, aligning to goals, and delivering on accountabilities.
- Effective communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and engage partners at all levels- both internally and externally.
- Consistently embodies a performance-driven attitude, with a proven history of achieving ambitious goals. Role models this approach with cross-functional team, ensuring accountability to scorecard critical metrics.
