Join us in Early Science, where our highly skilled scientists experiment and support complex drug projects in a diverse and innovative environment. The Accelerated Pharmaceutical Development (APD) platform is a key player in this process, driving digitization across two business areas that deliver AstraZeneca’s chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC). This role is a chance to lead requests for cloud development environments and resources, enabling the business to evaluate potential new ideas and move them quickly to production. 

Accountabilities:


As the APD Platform Lead, you will be at the helm of a multi-functional team of Project Managers, Business Analysts, and engineers distributed around the world. Your role will involve collaborating with scientists to understand and estimate requirements, providing tailored solutions using technology that best fits the solution in a way that is operationally stable and balanced. You will drive the technical direction of the platform, ensuring we have the right technology to enable our labs and scientists to work efficiently and accurately. 

Essential Skills/Experience:


• Bachelor’s Degree
• 8+ years of relevant experience
• Shown experience as a Software Developer, Architect, DevOps Engineer, Programmer, or equivalent.
• Technically proficient and curious, with a passion to explore, iterate, fail, and learn.
• Previous work as a software engineer at a senior level and have led a team of hard-working software engineers responsible for multiple products, particularly a portfolio environment. (Technologies to include Java, .NET, C, as well as scripting languages like Python, VBA Script)
• Confident in leading Engineers on standard processes on technology or key architectural concepts as needed.
• Understanding of the importance of sustainability and comfortable to have trade off conversations around technical debt.
• Highly skilled in modern DevOps culture / practices with confirmed experience of Cloud based environments.

Desirable Experience/Skillsets

• Life sciences experience, particularly within Research & Development Labs

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $150,404.80 to $225,607.20. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
