Manufacturing Science & Technology Summer Internships - Processing and Labwork

We are seeking sophomore and junior students majoring in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or related sciences majors for a 10-Week Student Intern role to be working on a nationwide team with 2 openings in Frederick, MD for a June 2nd - August 8th contract period.

Position Duties:

Manufacturing Sciences & Technology (MS&T) will be hosting 3 interns on the below projects this upcoming Summer:

Upstream Processing Project:

  • Review upstream process performance measures
  • Analyze process details through multivariate data analysis to identify trends
  • Recommend and implement specific process and productivity improvements

Lab Analyst Project:

  • Support the MS&T lab team through execution of cell culture and downstream biotechnology experiments.

Downstream Lab Processing Project:

  • Support lab studies in experimental design
  • Execution and analysis to gain understanding of manufacturing process improvements
  • Learn new technologies and approaches
  • Present findings in public format

Position Requirements:

  • Sophomore and junior students majoring in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or related sciences majors
  • **Candidates must have an expected graduation date after August 2025.
  • Mammalian cell culture, pipetting and other laboratory skills and experience preferred
  • Wet lab experience via coursework or experience preferred (Downstream & Analyst role)
  • Protein purification experience is a plus.
  • Enthusiasm for collaboration, cross-functional projects, public speaking, and presentation design.
  • US Work Authorization is required at time of application.
  • Applicants must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa (e.g., CPT, H1-B, F-1 (OPT), TN, or other non-immigrant status). This role will not be providing CPT/OPT support.
  • Ability to report onsite to Frederick, MD 5 days a week. This role will not provide relocation assistance, and will prioritize local applicants.
  • Minimum grade point average of 3.0
