Business Operations: Risk Management, Operational Excellence, and Project Management Summer Internships
We are seeking Undergraduate sophomore and junior students working towards a degree in engineering, project management, business administration or similar field for a 10-Week Student Intern role in Frederick, MD for a June 2nd - August 8th contract period.
Position Duties:
The Business Operations group will host interns across the below 3 projects:
Risk Management:
- Assist in developing and updating departmental metrics
- Update business continuity documents including business impact analysis, recovery action plans, standard operating procedures, and process flow diagrams and maps.
- Logistical planning for business continuity exercises and maintaining business continuity supplies and caches.
Operational Excellence:
- Facilitate problem solving sessions with manufacturing, quality, and/or technology departments to develop process improvement resolutions.
- Support continuous improvement opportunities throughout the site to bolster efficiency and lean aspirations.
Project Management Office (PMO):
- Planning, coordination and execution of the prework activities required for capacity increase program
- Developing process flow diagrams and narratives for required PMO processes and collecting/collating the associated data
- Having a specific project or sub-project to manage from start to a defined finish. To be defined closer to start date.
Position Requirements:
- Undergraduate sophomore and junior students working towards a degree in engineering, project management, business administration or similar field.
- **Candidates must have an expected graduation date after August 2025.
- MS Office with Excel experience is required
- PowerBI or other data visualization / dashboard management experience is a plus.
- CAD experience is a plus
- Exposure to Lean Practices (5S, Continuous Improvement, Tier Meetings)
- Enthusiasm for collaboration, cross-functional projects, public speaking, and presentation design.
- Project management and scheduling software experience is a plus
- Construction experience is a plus
- Must be comfortable wearing Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE – hard hats, steel toe shoes, safety glasses and vests) as project work dictates (PMO Role).
- US Work Authorization is required at time of application.
- Applicants must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa (e.g., CPT, H1-B, F-1 (OPT), TN, or other non-immigrant status). This role will not be providing CPT or OPT support.
- Ability to report onsite to Frederick, MD 5 days a week. This role will not provide relocation assistance, and local candidates will be prioritized.
- Minimum grade point average of 3.0
