About the programme
Our Safety Health and Environment function at Cambridge supports Research & Development (R&D). It’s a crucial function, improving staff safety and legal compliance, so that we can continue making a positive impact on people’s lives, healthcare systems and society. That’s because we’re driven by science, creating and improving access to genuinely innovative medicines. Guided by our values and behaviours, every one of us is empowered and inspired to thrive, making a real difference to patients, society and our company.
We’re always pushing the boundaries of science, searching for solutions that prevent, treat and even cure some of the world’s most serious health challenges. These include cancer, diabetes, and heart, kidney, and respiratory and immunological diseases. We’re focused on success, supplying medicines that can transform care, making sure they reach the patients who need them while bringing wider benefits to society and our planet.
How does the programme work?
On this 4-year apprenticeship, you’ll have a unique opportunity to learn and work in a global company alongside science’s brightest minds and Safety Health and Environment industry experts.
You’ll be studying for a Level 7 (Master’s) in Risk and Safety Management. We’ll fund your degree, and 20% of your time will be spent on your studies.
As well as gaining valuable work experience, you’ll have the opportunity to work towards a professional qualification, depending on your chosen department.
There are also plenty of opportunities for future growth and experience beyond your Master’s. Many of our apprentices go on to enjoy full time positions both in their apprenticeship department and other business areas.
How we will support you
We’re huge advocates of early careers, and we all want you to succeed. Bring us the passion and energy and we’ll support you all the way, encouraging you to fulfil all your potential. You’ll get excellent development opportunities and play a crucial role in your team. We’ll also help and encourage you to network and socialise with your peers so you can see the impact of your creativity and ideas.
From day 1, your line manager, a mentor and a buddy from the business will be there to support you. As an existing or ex-apprentice, your buddy will really help you to immerse yourself in the company and your new role.
You’ll also select your own benefits package with our flexible benefits programme. From lifestyle benefits to comprehensive health, pension, insurance and financial plans, you choose the right package for you. And if you change your mind the following year, you can adapt it.
