As a postdoc at AstraZeneca you have the opportunity to learn about and gain experience of drug development and working in industry. In addition, as a postdoc you lead your own research project, which typically means you have opportunities to present and publish your work.
The video above features Kai Liu, who joined the Postdoc Programme in 2018 working in Gothenburg as part of our Pharmaceutical Sciences department. As a result of his postdoc project, Kai produced a number of research publications, including in Nature Communications, examining the protein corona of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs). At the end of his postdoc, Kai was able to apply for and secured a role as a Senior Scientist within AstraZeneca continuing his work on LNPs. More recently, he has been promoted to Associate Principal Scientist. He continues to work closely with current postdocs including Chuan-En Lu and Marco Alfonzo Mendez, who also feature in the video.
