About the Programme
AstraZeneca's Laboratory Sciences Apprenticeship, starting February 2025, offers a unique full-time opportunity, combining paid, on-the-job training with part-time classroom instruction. As part of our 3-year programme, you'll not only receive a competitive salary, but also work towards achieving a fully funded Associates of Applied Science (AAS) in Biotechnology from Montgomery College.
As an apprentice, you’ll attend classes (on average 1 days/week) and work alongside expert managers and mentors to gain in-depth experience. You’ll collaborate with peers to tackle projects that have real impact from day one. This means being part of our journey to provide life-changing medicine to patients all over the world.
About BioPharmaceutical Development at AstraZeneca
BioPharmaceutical Development (BPD) at AstraZeneca brings together diverse minds committed to transforming molecules into life-changing medicines for our patients. We develop our deep pipeline of biologics from early research to late-stage development. Within Manufacturing Sciences, our teams provide process scale-up and biomanufacturing functionality, using a range of technologies to produce pre-clinical and clinical drug products.
Through the 3-year programme, you’ll complete technical courses on Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Good Distribution Practices (GDP), cleanroom behaviors, and separation techniques including chromatography and tangential flow filtration. As an Apprentice Laboratory Technician, you may carry out duties such as analytical testing and process equipment operation, troubleshooting and resolution of deviations in GMP manufacturing processes, and testing of new technologies to facilitate process development.

AstraZeneca will fully fund your Associates Degree, providing a strong foundation in biotechnology. This comprehensive programme includes coursework in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and hands-on laboratory training.
