■Job Description

The Portfolio & Capacity Manager is a pivotal role within R&D Japan, responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of portfolio and capacity data, evaluating the portfolio to provide insights for capacity planning and optimal resource allocation, and managing portfolio information to support R&D Japan strategic decision-making by utilizing visualizing tool, technology, internal and external data, in alignment with senior management. This role is critical for optimizing resource allocation across R&D Japan and maximizing the value of the overall project portfolio.


•    Portfolio Evaluation and Insight Provision
o    Evaluate R&D Japan project portfolio performance and provide actionable insights to maximize the value of the project portfolio.
o    Identify and report R&D Japan portfolio trends, risks, and opportunities for the capacity management.
•    Capacity Planning and Resource Optimization
o    Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to R&D Japan Leadership Team for strategic decision-making as part of RBU, MTP and other business critical capacity discussions.
o    Develop and implement capacity management plans to ensure optimal resource allocation at R&D Japan level.
•    Portfolio Information Management and Reporting
o    Lead the development and distribution of regular R&D Japan portfolio and capacity reports to stakeholders (e.g. R&D Japan Leadership Team, other R&D Japan customers).
o    Ensure that all reports are accurate, timely, and aligned with the strategic goals of R&D Japan
o    Support the business cycle, including coordination with project teams on R&D assumptions (Japan submission/approval/launch timelines) in scope of commercial LTP/MTP
•    Ensure Quality of Portfolio and Capacity Data
o    Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of all portfolio and capacity data, enabling effective data-driven decision-making.
o    Collaborate closely with the Project Data Analyst and other stakeholders to enhance data quality and reporting accuracy.

■Experience

•    Working knowledge of portfolio management, capacity planning, or resource optimization
•    Proficiency in data visualization tools (BI tools like PowerBI, Tableau etc) and technologies, with experience in creating comprehensive reports for senior management

•    Extensive experience in portfolio management, capacity planning, or resource optimization within an R&D or pharmaceutical development environment.
•    Excellent knowledge of AstraZeneca policies, procedures and guidelines

■License

•    University degree in a scientific or technical subject

•    PMP, MBA
•    Bachelor’s degree or higher in Statistics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field

■Skill-set

•    Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
•    Communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and with leadership teams including effective story telling.

•    Effective problem and conflict resolution skills
•    Basic knowledge and applied skills in machine learning and predictive analytics.
