The Service Experience Team is responsible for ensuring the ‘effective delivery’ of EUS services to our global customers and collaborators, including the AZ Language Service. The Language Service Team supports the translation and language support of the business and bridge the language gaps across the enterprise. Our brand-new Translation Technology platform empowers colleagues, stakeholders, and translation project managers across all functions to communicate, supervise and find major efficiencies in all cross-language activities. The Language Service has been designed to enable all functions and business areas to overcome complex communication.

The Language Service – Regulatory Translation Specialist is responsible for enabling and supporting translation management activities on a project and technical level facing towards AstraZeneca’s global R&D operations; supply and maintain translation and terminology management systems and applications; play a central role in capturing translation requirements and translating them into configurable linguistic solutions for R&D stakeholders that have adopted or will adopt the AZ Language Service; enable extensive leverage of the Translation Management ecosystem and neural machine translation by the translation areas.

The role will work multi-functionally across teams of business partners, developers, offshore support teams and vendors to successfully deliver continuous improvement and value. This is an exciting opportunity to run and transform critical business services across AstraZeneca’s global footprint.

You will organise cross-business area groups of people to bring detailed changes into a forum on a weekly basis. As part of  your role you will look for improvements to the processes and materials used, to put forward the recommendations and implement them where agreed. This is a team-oriented, exciting, high-reaching, and fast-paced environment.

Accountabilities

  • Support local and global R&D stakeholders with projects of implementing the AZ Translate ecosystem into R&D translation activities and process workflows. Assist R&D stakeholders by importing, configuring, organising and administering linguistic assets within AstraZeneca’s global Translation Management ecosystem.
  • Following up on the Service Demand process and R&D stakeholder business functions to benefit from the full value of the technology.
  • Supporting translation suppliers, consultants, co-ordinate meetings and capture challenges, issues and blockers and action them pro-actively or during planned calls.
  • Point of liaison with vendor support organisations, such as our TMS and cognitive services (AI vendors).
  • Focal point between translation customers and platform developers.
  • Analysing Translation Project demand and implementing the best strategy to bring the translation use case to completion.
  • Manage and maintain the required training and learning materials for the AZ Translate platform and handle customer expectations around training.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of technologies and external industry trends/changes.

Education, Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • This role needs to have a customer-centric approach with customer satisfaction as a focus.
  • You are dedicated and results-oriented and have ability to lead complex and ambiguous situations.
  • University Degree – Linguistics or Translation desirable.
  • Experience within in the language/translation/interpreting industry, preferably Pharmaceutical or Medical translation.
  • Experience within a regulated translations industry, preferably Pharmaceutical or Medical Regulation bodies, such as the EMA, the FDA, etc.
  • Solid grasp of Translation Technology, Computer Assisted Translation tools, Translation and Translation Memory management platforms.
  • Ability to interpret & communicate technical information into business language.
  • Fluently multilingual in Japanese and English and with provable understanding of challenges in a global, multilingual organisation.

Desirable

  • If you are ITIL v3 Foundation qualified, have experience with Smartling, XTM or other Translation Management Systems as well as prior experience working in Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industry IT environment, that would be advantageous.
  • Chinese skills
