Job purpose
In alignment with AZKK’s stated goal of being #1 by 2025, Information and Digital Solutions (“IDS”) is playing a key role providing thought leadership and key digital and technological capabilities aiming to transform AZKK into a fully digitally enabled organization. To achieve this vision, it is imperative to deliver groundbreaking Digital capabilities at scale to permeate through the entire organization.
We see Digital platforms as a key differentiating factor for AZKK moving forward. Robust Digital platforms at scale will support the provision of modular Lego blocks to allow development of differentiated experience across personal and digital channels in cost effective manner and with speed. All key capabilities required to support new successful product launches and provide competitive advantage to AZKK to become #1 in Japan.
As part of this key initiative, The Real-world Data (“RWD”) Architect lead position will be responsible for the maintaining and improving the current RWD platform working closely with Medical Affairs organization(“Medical”) / Evidence Observation Research (“EOR”) group / Data Scientist(“DS”) team and Global IT organization (“Global IT”). The role requires strong Platform / Infrastructure knowledge and deployment & operational experience. Especially RWD area experience is necessary. In addition to that, AWS and SAS are considered as core technology platform, thus this position need to have deep understanding of RWD analytical platform preferably SAS and AWS’s capability in many areas, managing large Database / Datamart / Data warehouse. As of the mindset to support Medical team, a leadership skill with logical/scientific approach, strategic thinking, and proactive mindset for achieving operational excellence are mandatory.
Role and Responsibilities
- As stated in above Job purpose, this position will be responsible for managing AZKK RWD Platform and lead RWD (Analytical) platform strategy from IT side, and.
- Partner with Medical - EOR group – DS team. Understand their business scope, the usage of RWD, critical business area, current operational model, pain point and future needs to continuously refine our RWD platform which requires high performing environment against large amounts of data.
- Report to Director of Medical BRM, RWD & Digital Academies in IDS in charge of Medical Business Relationship Manager (“BRM”) and working in tandem with Medical BRM Lead in IDS. Medical BRM Lead demand intakes general business demand from Medical team.
- Partner with respective a platform owner of Global IT (R&D IT, Enterprise Data office, Global architect) and relevant solution vendor (SAS, etc,.) not only to manage current running platform but also capture strategic initiative of each respective platform. It is to aim designing up to date RWD architecture and plan best business support model.
- Partner with Global IT organization which manages RWD platform for liaison with global strategy.
- Partner with Global IT operation team for Change Request, periodical maintenance, monitor system performance, and drive appropriate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) conducted at incident. As a follow up, ensure plan and implement relevant fixes to be conducted.
- Partner with IT Quality Management team to conduct / support CSV for this RWD platform to maintain the platform meets business requirement for various validation level (GPSP, GxP)
- Responsible for managing external IT vendor/partner which provides operational support around RWD Platform.
- Responsible to capture taking appropriate business demand and converting to IT request as an IT expert for the smooth change management process.
- Drive innovation in use of RWD for clinical trial optimization and field medical affairs activities.
- The position is NOT responsible for hands-on System / Database administration or AWS or SAS configuration. Those operational task is responsible by Global IT team however having a deep knowledge and experience required to ensure the most precise and sensible technical requirement to submit via service request.
- The position is NOT responsible for writing SAS or similar analytical programming code for various data analysis as a data scientist. Those analysis are conducted by DS Team in Medical EOR team.

【経験 / Experience】
<必須 / Mandatory>
・ Minimum 3 years of experience to manage RWD platform in Pharmaceutical or similar industry.
・ Minimum 5 years of experience to lead and operate AWS cloud solutions for critical business purpose.
・ Minimum 5 years of experience as Data Engineer in enterprise setting.
・ Minimum 2 years of experience as System Architect in enterprise setting
・ Experience working with SAS (SAS viya or SAS studio) in enterprise setting.
・ Graduate degree and relevant work experience in Computer Science / Computer Engineering.
<歓迎 / Nice to have>
・ Hands-on experience with Snowflake is a plus.
・ Experience with other cloud SaaS services like Azure and GCP
・ Experience working in a complex global organization in enterprise setting.
・ Minimum of 3 years' experience of System Operation supporting RWD studies in pharmaceutical industry using observational real-world databases (claims, EHR, registry data but not limited to).

・ Obtain AWS Cloud Solution Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer or similar advanced AWS certification and use the certified knowledge and experiences in enterprise setting for minimum 3 years.
