As a Senior Director, Oncology Access Strategy with AstraZeneca, you will have an exciting opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing Oncology business within a leading global pharmaceutical company located in Gaithersburg, MD. In this position, you will be responsible for leading the US market access strategy for our Breast Franchise, focusing on our inline brands as well as burgeoning pipeline assets. In this role, you will collaborate across the breadth of product marketing teams and cross-functional teams to craft and deliver on value propositions to facilitate access and reimbursement. Areas of focus will include accountability of clinical value propositions, Clinical Value Teams associated with different indications, the access dimension of brand planning, formulation of contracting strategies for payers and providers, and enabling account director success through clear articulation of strategy and provision of high-impact customer assets. Accountabilities

  • Lead the cross-functional team through the development and implementation of impactful access strategies by conducting in-depth analysis to drive identification of rich market insight across patients, providers, and payers.
  • Develop compelling and differentiated product value propositions, distribution and dispensing strategy, and pricing and affordability strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with the Global Oncology Market Access and Pricing team.
  • Lead a team of Market Access professionals; hire, develop, and lead the team for success.
  • Work cross-functionally with HQ and field teams to develop promotional programs and tactics to pull through market access strategy.
  • Support account management teams in customer strategy, planning, and execution (e.g., promotional tools/resources, and action plans).
  • Lead agency relationships ensuring promotional programs are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Own the internal promotional review process ensuring all marketing activities align with regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with brand teams and Market Access account teams to ensure appropriate resources are deployed to meet brand, franchise, and company goals.
  • Provide leadership of gross-to-net management by guiding pricing, contract, and reimbursement strategies.
  • Develop and lead associated budgets in compliance with AZ finance and accounting requirements.
  • Perform all company business in accordance with regulations and company policies and procedures.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10 years of Commercial pharma experience
  • Experience with US market access landscape and the legal/regulatory environment for pharmaceuticals/biopharmaceuticals
  • Previous Leadership experience

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • 5 years experience within the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical market in Payer Marketing, Brand Marketing, Insight & Analytics, and/or Management Consulting
  • Oncology and/or specialty experience
  • Willingness to travel domestically (up to 25%) with some potential for international travel
  • MBA in relevant field
  • Experience in customer-facing roles
  • Ability to work independently and experience developing and implementing strategy
  • Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity in a highly matrixed environment
  • Results-oriented with excellent communication and collaboration skills

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $210,000 to $315,000. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
