Director, Engineering
Introduction to role:
Direct the Engineering department within Facilities & Engineering in support of site operations and site master planning; ensuring timely, technologically efficient support to operations.
Accountabilities:
Responsible for all projects assigned to the organizational unit. Acts as an advisor to subordinate leaders or staff members to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems. Directly participates in establishing and administering many centralized functional projects. Develops and administers budgets, schedules, and performance standards.
Assignments are received in objective-orientated terms. Provides guidance to subordinates based on organizational goals and company policy. Work is reviewed in terms of meeting the organization's objectives and schedules. Establishes operating policies and procedures that affect subordinate organizational units. Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to organizational policies.
Frequent contacts with equivalent level managers and customer representatives concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, or contractual clarifications. Conducts briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives.
Exerts influence in the development of objectives and long-range goals of the organization. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in critical delays and modifications to projects or operations; cause substantial expenditure of time, human resources, and funds; and jeopardize future business activity.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Work is performed without appreciable direction. Determines organizational objectives and interprets company policies. Completed work is reviewed, from a relatively long-term perspective, for desired results. Establishes organizational policies in a major segment of the company. Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to company-wide policies.
Decisions would affect the financial, employee, or public relations posture of the company. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would result in failure to achieve major goals and objectives of the organization.
Represents the organization unit as prime internal and external contracts or operations. Conducts briefings and technical meetings for top management and customer representatives. Interacts with level-level managers concerning matters of significance to the company.
Generally accomplishes results through lower management levels. Determines and establishes organizational structures and supervisory relationships, subject to top management approval. Often responsible for managing a major segment of the company.
Essential Skills/Experience:
15 years of applicable experience and a working knowledge of engineering principles for process equipment and controls.
7-10 Years of management experience
BS Engineering
Strong leadership and change management skills.
Ability to lead Lean and drive continuous improvement including reliability-based maintenance.
Strong technical problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills in a cross-functional environment.
High degree of organizational skills.
Strategic thinking with a strong business acumen.
Strong leadership qualities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to interact with all levels of management including senior management.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
MS/MBA Preferred
