What is the opportunity?

BBU bridges science and commercial, integrating corporate, portfolio, therapy areas and product strategies, providing strategic direction from early-stage research through to commercialization.

Within the CVRM BBU team and reporting to the SVP, Global CVRM, you will help shape AZ’s future CVRM early portfolio. You will be accountable for strengthening and accelerating the CVRM pipeline and collaborating cross functionally with colleagues in AZ Research & Development to shape the development of the early CVRM portfolio, ensuring that AZ resource is focused on the most promising drug candidates.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

As the VP of Early Commercial, CVRM, you will report to the SVP, CVRM and sit on the leadership team. Your accountabilities are two-fold; you will represent the BBU and lead the CVRM Therapy Area strategy with focus on the early commercial portfolio and you will be accountable for understanding industry innovations and trends in the CVRM space.

< >Provide strategic commercial input into the product development teams to ensure alignment of product strategy and clinical development plan

Driving ambitious life cycle management opportunities into product strategy

Presentation of the commercial strategy to governance bodies (e.g. TA leadership team, Early and Late stage product committees)Lead the CVRM TA strategy for early portfolio and liaise with VP, Brands Collaborate with search and evaluation and BD teams to identify and evaluate potential business development opportunities, acting as the commercial link to ensure alignment with the overall CVRM Therapy Area strategy.

Develop and maintain networks of clinical external experts, industry leaders, leading academic scientists, payers, and business development

Effective management of team annual budgets

Represent TA at ESPC and Research Boards

Fuel the strategic review with disease and early assets Commercial experience with successful execution & delivery

Strong strategic thinking and financial acumen

Swift corporate compass to navigate the scientific R&D and commercial organisations and governance bodies (ESPC, LSPC),Strong science background preferred but scientific curiosity required

Education:

< >Business, Medical or Life sciences degree  

Experience:

< >Proven leader and significant experience in healthcare or biopharma industry Significant and in-depth understanding of commercial strategy, methodologies and tools (product profiling and positioning, forecasting, pricing & reimbursement, market research techniques, competitive intelligence resources)

Experience of shaping brand strategy whilst the understanding of product profile was incomplete and evolving

Thorough understanding of the drug development process and the need for commercial line of sight throughout Understanding of future healthcare market challenges

Exposure to and track record of effective management of senior decision-making/governance bodies

Proven experience of engaging with and leveraging insights from external customers e.g. KEEs, prescribers, payors

Experience and effectiveness in the presentation of written and verbal business cases to the senior executive teams

Experience to create a positive relationship with third parties as an AZ Ambassador at Board and Executive Committee level

Demonstrates structured and measured leadership, interactions and decision making during periods of high intensity in external or internal deliberations

An advanced degree ( MBA, MSc or PhD) is preferred

The ideal candidate will possess outstanding commercial and strategic marketing skills, coupled with the ability to synthesize and creating a compelling narrative to articulate and build alignment around the strategy. S/he will have experience developing and implementing successful marketing strategies for major products and franchises, and will demonstrate the ability to understand customer needs and motivations with deep insight into the patient journey. S/he will have a thorough understanding of the external environment, including depth of knowledge in science, clinical practices, competitive dynamics, and evolving trends, with the demonstrated ability to translate clinical insights into impactful commercial strategies. S/he will also possesses high energy, creativity, an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for impact that is grounded in possibility and new thinking.
