Key Account Manager Oncology (Maternity Leave Cover)

Introduction to role

As a Key Account Manager at AstraZeneca, you will manage individual accounts with strategic importance to AstraZeneca, taking ultimate responsibility for their performance, generating clinical demand for Oncology brands with key accounts, pro-actively identifying business opportunities, presenting value propositions aligned to stakeholder needs and objectives, and recommending solutions to drive and develop business. Your long-term goal will be to develop strategic and mutually beneficial relationships within the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and other stakeholders, based on a deep scientific understanding of the issues, to identify the best opportunities for any part of AZ’s Oncology portfolio to deliver life-changing medicine to patients.

Accountabilities

  • Identify and prioritize accounts with strategic value to AstraZeneca (e.g. hospitals, hospital departments, supply pharmacies).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze stakeholder needs and opportunities to improve the positioning AZ’s Oncology products on national level.
  • Develop strategies for each account/stakeholder to meet targets, aligned with the brand strategy and regulatory environment.
  • Support the development and implementation of promotional activities based on defined brands strategies for each account.
  • Build and manage long-term external relationships with senior stakeholders within high-value accounts.
  • Share stakeholder insights within AstraZeneca to strengthen relevant activities such as product development, marketing, and sales efforts.
  • Engage influential stakeholders to collaboratively develop and implement key account strategies.
  • Engage Oncology HCPs in dialogue about approved indications, product efficacy / safety profiles and treatment protocols to support on-label prescribing for appropriate patients.
  • Provide informational support and experience to various players in the healthcare environment.
  • Utilize different communication approaches and channels as appropriate.
  • Position AstraZeneca as a thought partner and value creator for key accounts using data flows and outcomes research.
  • Act as an educational resource to internal colleagues by documenting and sharing account insights.
  • Ensure implementation of business plans and drive sales performance while managing operational account budgets.
  • Coordinate actions externally and internally via a detailed KAM account plan.
  • Comply with all external regulations and internal policies.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • University education preferably in Medicine, Pharmacy or Science
  • Experience as a pharmaceutical sales representative or KAM with a proven track record of successfully managing key accounts
  • Proven track record of engaging and developing lasting relationships with key stakeholders in complex healthcare environments
  • Proven strategic thinking, judgment, persuasion, and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to develop and execute compelling account strategies
  • Strong leadership attributes to set direction, generate commitment, balance short and long-term needs, resolve issues constructively
  • Communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams
  • Strong focus on effective decision-making and results
  • Proficiency in English language
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Driving license

  • Oncology/Therapy area knowledge
  • Knowledge of the market and customers
