About the programme
We have Digital and Technology Solutions Apprenticeships in several business areas.
We’re all about creative thinking and new ideas, whilst keeping a strong customer focus. So that we can understand every business area and how they operate. That’s how we, in IT, create maximum value. If you share our passion for technology-led science, and are driven, enthusiastic and a great team player, we want to hear from you.
In UK Operations we thrive in a high-tech, LEAN-based environment. Working together to add value and smart solutions that support business needs. We’re on an exciting digital journey, embracing the next phase of the digital world and becoming a Smart Factory.
As an apprentice, you’ll gain a broad understanding of our UK Operations functions. You’ll also get involved in a variety of critical Digital activities and projects for key functional areas (Production, Warehousing, Supply Chain, Quality, Data, Planning).
Robotics and Automation
Robotics and Automation Development is part of BioPharmaceuticals Research and Development. Based in Cambridge, you'll be working with automation engineers across the globe.
Many of our automation engineers have scientific backgrounds, working with scientists to provide an adaptable, science-driven approach. Together they’re applying cutting-edge technologies to develop industry-leading cell lines, production processes, analytical methods and formulations.
On your apprenticeship, we’ll support your educational and ‘on the job’ development. Make the most of your skills and ambition, and we’ll help you reach your ultimate career aspirations.
How does the programme work?
All our Digital and Technology Solutions Apprenticeships lead to a degree (BSc) in Digital & Technology Solutions. Each degree takes 4 years, which we’ll fund, and 20% of your time will be spent on your studies.
For the first 3 years of the programme, you’ll complete 3 x 8-month rotations in different business IT areas. You’ll choose these with your programme lead to match your skills, knowledge and experience. Together we’ll discover your strengths and choose the right career path for you. For the final you’ll apply your learning so far into one specialist business area.
You’ll complete several 12-month rotations in different areas of our site. Each rotation will reflect your interests, skills, knowledge and experience. This will help you choose the right career path for you.
Robotics and Automation
As an apprentice automation engineer, you’ll be responsible for supporting the R&D organisation. You’ll focus on implementation, integration and data management relating to robotics and high throughput systems. Working with scientists across R&D, you’ll analyse current laboratory practices here and identify opportunities to innovate, develop and implement physical and data automation tools.
How we will support you
We’re huge advocates of early careers, and we all want you to succeed. Bring us the passion and energy and we’ll support you all the way, encouraging you to fulfil all your potential.
You’ll get excellent development opportunities and play a crucial role in your team. We’ll also help and encourage you to network and socialise with your peers so you can see the impact of your creativity and ideas.
From day 1, your line manager, a mentor and a buddy from the business will be there to support you. As an existing or ex-apprentice your buddy will really help you to immerse yourself in the company and your new role.
