Our story begins in 1993, when we first established our presence in China. Since then, we’ve gone from strength to strength and made significant investment, establishing a series of science, innovation and manufacturing centres – including a global R&D centre in Shanghai. Throughout the country, we employ over 14,000 of the most talented minds in medical research across five office locations and two manufacturing plants. 

Providing the expertise and insight to develop medicines for some of the most serious disease areas and therapies, we lead in Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolic (CVRM), Gastrointestinal, Respiratory, Neurological, Oncology, Inflammation, and Anaesthesia. Did you know? To date, we have brought approximately 30 innovative drugs to China and invested around three-quarters of a billion dollars in pharmaceutical innovation in the country.

Head Office, Zhangjiang Park, Shanghai

Home to our headquarters in China, our Zhangjiang Park site includes our Global Commercial Organization, BioPharmaceutical R&D centre, academic training, and global functions. Home to many business areas, from Medical Affairs to Digital and Commercial Innovation, this is where diverse thinking thrives and where we successfully establish great leadership. With its advanced and eco-friendly architectural concept and its innovative, collaborative layout, the park is an inspirational place to work for you, and an academic exchange centre for our clients.
