Applications for 2025 will open on 13th January.
About the programme
Procurement works to drive AstraZeneca’s competitive advantage to support its strategic objectives. By working to identify, source and manage the best suppliers in the market, they are able to support our main purpose to deliver life-changing medicines to patients. The challenge is to deliver outstanding value ensuring that our standards are upheld and risks are identified and managed effectively across our supply chains. As part of our Early Talent Programmes, you’ll play an integral part in living our values and helping us to deliver on this shared ambition.
How does the programme work?
During the apprenticeship programme, you will study for a CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply. You will be working with procurement professionals managing a wide range of categories all of which have a pivotal role in driving the competitive advantage of AstraZeneca as a company.
During this 2-year program, you will have the opportunity to experience the full procurement lifecycle including building a category strategy, sourcing and contracting, managing supplier performance and driving continuous improvement whilst also enhancing the skills and behaviours needed for success.
So, in one rotation you might be searching for the right supplier to manufacture a new diagnostic device; you may then work with an established provider to review the ways of working to look for opportunities to automate processes, reduce operating costs or expediate timelines. We’re proud to be a truly global enterprise and to offer all candidates the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of a big global biopharmaceutical company and, where applicable, to gain hands on experience in different markets.
How we will support you
AstraZeneca is a huge advocate of early careers and we all want you to succeed. In return for the passion and energy you will bring to Procurement, you will be supported with opportunities to apply your learning in the workplace, focused objectives and goals with further development to support broader learning. All apprentices across our business have the support of their line manager, a mentor, and a buddy (who is normally an existing or ex- apprentice) to support you as you move into our business/your role and the AstraZeneca early talent network. You will also benefit from professional and in-house training schemes/qualifications throughout your apprenticeship.
Our flexible benefits programme allows you to select your own benefits package based on your personal preferences and circumstances. So, from lifestyle benefits to comprehensive health, pension, insurance and financial plans, you choose the package for you – and if you change your mind the following year, you can adapt it.
