Early careers at AstraZeneca

Manufacturing Apprenticeship

Applications for 2024 are now closed.

About the programme

You’ll find Process Industry Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeships in several business areas, where we manufacture a wide range of pharmaceutical products, especially in cardiovascular and oncology, for Europe, Asia and the Middle East. And the products you’ll help us provide make a positive impact to patients in over 140 countries worldwide.

How does the programme work?

Your 2-year apprenticeship will combine plant-based learning with practical, on-the-job training. And you’ll be working alongside industry professionals to gain in-depth experience while completing a Level 3 - BTEC Process Industry Manufacturing Technician qualification.

There are also plenty of opportunities for future growth and experience beyond your BTEC. Many of our apprentices go on to enjoy full time positions and continue their learning, gaining more qualifications.

Macclesfield

At Macclesfield, the Global Packaging Centre of Excellence and the Sterile Parenteral Manufacturing Area are the two main apprenticeship sites. You’ll work in one of these, gaining in-depth knowledge of the area, as part of the manufacturing team. As well as your study time, you’ll get on-the-job training and become a valuable part of the team.

How we will support you

We’re huge advocates of early careers, and we all want you to succeed. Bring us the passion and energy and we’ll support you all the way, encouraging you to fulfil all your potential.

From day 1, your line manager, a mentor and a buddy from the business will be there to support you. As an existing or ex-apprentice your buddy will really help you to immerse yourself in the company and your new role.

Manufacturing is fast paced, and we want you to actively engage in your personal development and seize every opportunity learn and grow. And if you have ideas about how to improve our processes and performance, we want to hear them.

You’ll also select your own benefits package with our flexible benefits programme.
