About The role
This role is for a world leading Bio Pharmaceutical company which operates in over 100 countries and is head quartered in the United Kingdom. The candidate is expected to work as an Associate Engineer for a large infrastructure support and maintenance function, spanning several continents.
The candidate should possess broad functional knowledge in his/her domain and technical knowledge in relevant operations. The candidate should have proven expertise in working within a team for database infrastructure operational support and remediation activities. The Senior specialist will be responsible for the troubleshooting/break fix incidents/changes, coordination, monitoring, ticket queue administration & support primarily on Oracle.
Typical Accountabilities
• 3 - 5 years of experience
• Curious mind, good interpersonal skills, and excellent technical skills in the area of DBA admin
• Strong Oracle Database Administration experience
• Strong in RAC concepts
• Good in data restore/recovery techniques.
• Experience in performance tuning.
• Experience of managing multiple RDBMS on large systems
• Experience of working in a team that delivers a high availability service.
• Experience in Database Migrations (On Premises to Cloud, Oracle to PostgreSQL & Oracle 10,11 to 18C)
• Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service
• Good Knowledge on operating systems (Win/Unix/Linux)
• Knowledge on Oracle OEM monitoring
• Good to have PL/SQL knowledge.
• Good to have cloud transformation experience.
• Knowledge on open-source database (MongoDB, MySQL & PostgreSQL) required
• Knowledge on AWS Databases like Redshift, DynamoDB & Aurora
• Scripting knowledge would be an added advantage.
• ITIL knowledge is a must.
Education, Qualifications, and Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 8+ years Operational experience in Database administration.
- Experience in managing Incidents, Problems, changes and capacity management aspects.
- Demonstrated ability handling Incidents, Changes & Service Requests.
- Flexibility to work in shifts on rotational basis covering Americas, EMEA and ASIAPAC regions 24*7
- An ability to work effectively in a matrix organization is essential
- A self-starter with high levels of drive, energy, resilience and a desire for professional excellence
- ITIL Foundation certified.
- Oracle Certified Master certified.
Desirable
- Master’s degree
- Multi years of work experience in Technical teams working in Shifts.
- Database Infrastructure design & Architecture knowledge
- Database administration recommendation skills
- Oracle Certified Expert certification an added advantage.
Skills and Capabilities
Essential
- Expert Operational experience with Oracle Database (8i,9i,10g,11g,12c,18c,19c).
- Operational experience with MSSQL Database (2000,2005,2008,2008R2,2012,2014,2016,2017,2019 & 2022).
- Experience working in ITIL model.
- Good knowledge on Database Build/Migration activities.
- Good knowledge on Oracle High availability services like RAC, DR, Oracle Cluster, HA cluster & OVM.
- Knowledge on data restore/recovery techniques.
- Good Knowledge on cloud solutions and concepts (AWS, Oracle cloud)
- Good Oracle OEM administration & configuration knowledge.
- Good knowledge on Oracle Performance issues.
- Experience working in ITIL model.
- Good Working on Lean & Agile Methodologies
- Expert knowledge on database migration from On-Premises to Cloud platform.
- Very Good knowledge on Automation/Scripting
- Good knowledge on open-source database (MongoDB, MySQL & PostgreSQL)
- Good Communication skills in interacting with the application teams & vendors
Desirable
- Architect level of experience in Oracle Database administration to managing Incidents, Problems, changes and capacity management aspects
- Experience and ability to work in shifts on rotational basis covering 24*7 support
- Ability to collaborate across the different technology towers.
