Role Overview:

As a Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in driving data engineering initiatives across AstraZeneca's R&D IT portfolio. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing comprehensive data engineering support, spanning ETL processes, data products, and reporting.

  • Conducting rigorous testing and quality assessments to ensure the readiness of D&A solutions for release.

  • Ensuring business data and information assets are accessible as services and artifacts for broader enterprise consumption.

  • Managing and monitoring Datamart systems to maintain optimal performance and reliability.

  • Leading technical workstreams, including ETL pipeline development, debugging, and optimization.

  • Serving as a subject matter expert in ETL tools and AWS services, particularly PostgreSQL, Lambda, and S3, resolving technical issues as they arise.

  • Encouraging project and customer success through effective deadline management, expectation setting, and delivery of high-quality solutions.

  • Guiding team members on critical projects, fostering a proactive and continuous improvement mindset.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • Extensive database experience, specifically with Snowflake, Redshift, and Postgres; including data product management.

  • Proficient in tools such as DBT and Fivetran, with a strong command of Python.

  • Exceptional ETL skills with hands-on experience with ETL tools and SQL.

  • Competence in tuning performance for SQL and ETL pipelines.

  • Experience in various data analytics architectures, including traditional warehousing and distributed computing.

  • Working knowledge of Python, especially with serverless technologies like AWS Lambda and AWS Glue.

  • Proficient in version control systems, ideally Git.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to resolve both technical and non-technical issues.

  • Significant experience in troubleshooting data issues and analyzing end-to-end data pipelines.

  • Production experience with CI/CD pipelines using platforms such as GitHub and Jenkins.

  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment across different time zones, both independently and as part of a team.

  • Passion for learning new technologies and a proactive, enthusiastic approach to Agile environments.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the capacity to inspire collaboration and elevate team dynamics.
