Accountabilities
The scope of the service covers a large set of scientific solutions. It is crucial to have a good understanding of the business context and the R&D Processes where the solutions are being used. Working with a specific application often requires in-depth understanding of the business process and scientific awareness in all R&D Domains.
Analysing and further developing Algorithms as well as business workflows is a common activity in the team.
The Java, Unix &Oracle Consultant will work closely with the technical team lead, operational service manager and the E2E capability service manager to ensure sophisticated and timely delivery and service of the different applications. They will also collaborate closely with different application support teams, vendors, and scientists driving the delivery of best-in-class IT services. They will be responsible for ensuring Application Support teams deliver services according to the defined business require, enforce to AstraZeneca global standards, and agreed Service Level Agreements, and are handled in accordance with the IT Service Delivery Framework (ITIL).
To be successful in delivery, they must work very closely with the Application, DB and the Middleware specialists in the infrastructure teams when resolving incidents and problems as well as when testing and deploying new versions of application code or Middleware components.
Another meaningful part of a successful delivery of the service is the close and direct relationship with our customers. Each team member will have regular contact with our customers via phone, IM’s or email.
We expect all members of the team to work in an Agile and Lean way, using fit-for-purpose, low-overhead processes to underpin the work.
Requirements
- 4-6 years of experience with Java programming and application development/support.
- Solid understanding of PL/SQL - preferable database Oracle, Postgres.
- Any one of these R&D Lab systems (LIMS, Instruments, ELN, OpenLab).
- Experience with supporting RESTful/SOA services.
- Proficient with Linux commands and scripting.
- Analytical and debugging skill is a must.
- Experience working with a WebLogic and IIS server.
- Exposure to ITIL Framework, understanding of the incident, problem, change and release management process.
- Solving and good development experience with Oracle or any other RDBMS
- Experience working on IT Service management tools like Service Now, Remedy or Service Manager
- Proven track record to apply technical knowledge to multiple systems and support multiple business groups and applications
- Liaise with multiple collaborators including users, infrastructure/middleware teams, 3rd party software vendors to resolve issues and potential process improvements
- Clear and concise communication, written and verbal.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across team boundaries.
Desirable
- No-code / Low-code platforms (Power Automate etc.)
- Familiarity with life sciences (Pharma) domain concepts, workflow and terminology
- Knowledge /education in science or specifically in Chemistry
- Any Experience with package installation in Database
- Experience with writing ETL scripts
- Attitude to support business critical applications
- Experience in setting up and handling application environments.
- Experience working with global teams
- Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
- Logical mind with keen analytical skills
