Accountabilities:
Partner with Alexion cross-functional teams to strategize account and territory management for enhanced customer knowledge on payor policies.
Serve as a subject matter expert on reimbursement and access landscapes, including payer policies and prior authorization requirements.
Develop strategic account plans to boost customer knowledge for key accounts.
Collaborate with Alexion One Source Patient Services for case management related to reimbursement education.
Utilize internal data to craft and execute account plans.
Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and policies governing Alexion activities.
Manage annual budget allocation within your territory.
Essential Skills/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in the healthcare and/or pharmaceutical/biotech industry
Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with buy and bill and/or specialty pharmacy networks
Understanding of access process from Rx to infusion/injection
Experience with products that require prior authorization and clear understanding of related billing, coding and in-office support
Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication and presentation skills
Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels, inside and outside of the company
Ability to educate physicians and other healthcare professionals with confidence and expertise in an office procedural environment
Strong rapport building and active listening skills
Problem solver with a sense of urgency
Demonstrated technical skill and working proficiency in using iPad and working proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
The duties of this role are generally conducted in a field environment. As is typical of a field-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation, to travel by public transportation, automobile, train, or plane; work comfortably in a clinical setting; use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; problem solve; engage in complex and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours
Travel and Role Related Areas:
Ability to travel to work-related meetings and functions and ability to travel overnight for 2-3 nights per week
Ability to travel up to 75%
Ability to drive to assigned targets within the territory using own automobile (a car allowance is provided)
A valid driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to travel regionally and cover large multi-state territories
Must reside in the region; relocation assistance is not provided
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Rare disease experience
3+ years of field reimbursement experience
Understanding of the top payers within the assigned geography
Experience in launching a new specialty pharmaceutical/biologic product or new product indication
Experience working through complex reimbursement issues
