Senior Manager, Digital Operations – One Poland Hub, Site Management, COO

The Site Management Team manages and oversees operations of the AZ One Poland Hub, which includes the Warsaw Site and Kraków Office. This team consists of seven specialised sub-functions dedicated to maintaining secure and stable operations that support business activities in Poland. Site Management is part of the AZ R&D BioPharmaceuticals Chief Operating Office, which drives its unified COO digital transformation across sites.

The Senior Manager, Digital Operations position integrates strategic leadership in digital operations with hands-on project delivery and practical project execution, supporting the COO Digital Transformation process across Site Management and the AZ One Poland Hub. The successful candidate will oversee a broad range of initiatives, drive operational excellence to support the objectives and plans of the COO Digital Transformation, and promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Strategy Leadership

  • Lead the execution of the Site Management Digital Strategy and COO Digital Transformation, ensuring alignment with business goals and measurable value delivery.

  • Manage the end-to-end digital demand process, ensuring prioritized initiatives are strategically aligned and well-supported.

  • Actively engage the Site Management Leadership Team and/or COO Leadership Team and/or One Poland Hub Site Leadership Team, fostering their sponsorship and championing of digital initiatives through clear and timely communication. 

  • Act as a primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external partners, engaging effectively across Business and IT teams to foster collaboration and drive alignment on objectives.

Digital Operations Oversight and Governance

  • Maintain visibility and coordination across a large and growing portfolio of digital initiatives.

  • Act as the operational hub, connecting delivery teams and enabling momentum through structured governance, effective risk and dependency tracking, and delivery coordination. 

  • Manage the digital operating budget, including forecasting, expenditure tracking, and recharge models.

  • Seek continuous opportunities to optimize cost efficiency across digital services. 

Service Maturity and Documentation

  • Map and oversee the full landscape of digital platforms, systems and data in use across Site Management and connecting parties.

  • Ensure that all systems have appropriate support models, lifecycle documentation, and governance arrangements in place, with strong collaboration between business leads and IT owners. 

  • Build trusted relationships across all Site Management digital workstreams, IT, and key business areas. Promote shared ownership and alignment on digital priorities, acting as a connector between teams and helping to resolve barriers through influence and coordination. 

Project Management & Delivery

  • Plan and implement diverse digital projects across Site Management, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.

  • Conduct stakeholder-centered planning with clear goals, structured timelines, and engaging project plans.

  • Identify and manage risks proactively to prevent delays and ensure smooth project delivery and execution. Develop mitigation strategies to address potential issues before they impact the project timeline.

  • Track value realization from project initiation through post-implementation, using metrics and follow-up analysis.

  • Champion a results-oriented approach, defining clear metrics for value at project initiation and tracking outcomes through all stages to ensure benefits are achieved and sustainable. Quantify ‘before and after’ impacts, with follow-up analyses to validate and maximise value over time.

Digital Learning & Continuous Improvement

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by embedding LEAN, data-driven practices in digital operations.

  • Identify opportunities to optimize processes and technologies, embedding LEAN and data-driven practices.

  • Use feedback and insight to inform change, leading workshops and initiatives that streamline processes and improve sustainability outcomes and operational efficiency. 

  • Design and deliver training initiatives that respond to emerging needs and support digital adoption.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Degree in IT, AI, Information Systems, Digital Operations Project Management, or a related discipline.

  • Experience: 5+ years in digital operations, technology management, or business improvement roles, ideally within complex or regulated environments. 

  • Digital Literacy: Awareness of enterprise digital ecosystems, including workplace technologies (e.g. ServiceNow), data domains, smart environments, and support systems. Understanding of data management & current technologies including AI.

  • Digital Transformation Knowledge: Understanding of digital transformation concepts, change management, and UX. Experience in leveraging modern project management methodologies and digital platforms to accelerate transformation and deliver operational excellence by translating digital strategy into practical, scalable solutions.

  • Data and Digital Governance: Strong ability to navigate systems, data & digital complexity and to support effective delivery of digital initiatives.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in planning tools (Microsoft Project, JIRA, Gantt charts, etc.).

  • Strategic & Operational Leadership: Ability to balance long-term vision with day-to-day execution. A proactive approach with and the ability to envision and shape a new role within a dynamic environment

  • Problem Solving & Adaptability: Analytical mindset with the ability to lead through ambiguity and change. Capable of identifying challenges and developing actionable solutions that drive project success.

  • Value-Driven Focus: Commitment to delivering measurable, sustainable impact. An innate focus on delivering real, measurable value through each project, from inception to long-term benefit realization.

  • Languages: Fluent spoken and written English & Polish languages (native or bilingual).
