Job Title: Director, Global Patient Safety Learning & Development

Location: Warsaw, Poland

Hybrid Model: 3 days per week in office

Introduction to role

As the Global Patient Safety (GPS) Learning & Development (L&D) Director, you will lead the delivery of training and capability frameworks that ensure our Patient Safety organization as the skills to deliver the AstraZeneca ambition. Partnering with the L&D Associate Director, you will manage priority training projects end to end - implementation, communication, compliance, performance - while building strong relationships across Patient Safety, CMO groups, QA/Compliance, IS/IT, and Science Units.

What you’ll do

  • Enhance the quality and delivery of training in collaboration with business and process owners.

  • Use digital and AI tools to improve the efficiency and quality of skill-based learning.

  • Lead the GPS Academy, defining, maintaining, and continuously improving training activities with Science Units.

  • Partner with leaders to develop training solutions that improve capabilities and drive regulatory compliance.

  • Lead the annual assessment of capability and L&D needs, with prioritization and phased delivery.

  • Support line managers with effective training and periodic updates on procedural changes.

  • Design and oversee training approaches and materials; engage SMEs/external resources to develop content.

  • Advise on training evaluation approaches; collect and analyze metrics to drive continuous improvement.

  • Participate in AZ L&D delivery and strategic networks; collaborate across organizations in remit.

  • Contribute to cross-AZ initiatives to improve training and L&D.

  • Support Process Owners with standardized process awareness sessions, templates, repositories, and scheduling.

  • Develop content outlines for eLearning and instructor-led courses; create storyboards, knowledge checks, interactive exercises, and assessments.

  • Design and deliver workshops, classroom training, and virtual webinars, with facilitator/participant guides.

  • Ensure the AZ learning management platform is used to assign and track training; maintain audit-ready records.

  • Manage vendor relationships, including SOWs, approvals, project initiation, progress, closure, and communications.

Essential skills/experience

  • Training strategy & delivery: Leads enterprise programs in regulated environments with measurable outcomes.

  • Capability assessment & planning: Owns annual L&D needs, prioritization, and phased delivery.

  • Regulatory compliance focus: Translates process/regulatory requirements into adoptable training; inspection-ready.

  • Digital/AI-enabled learning: Applies tools to improve efficiency and quality of skill-based learning.

  • Stakeholder/vendor management: Partners across Patient Safety/QA/IS and manages external L&D vendors/SOWs.

  • LMS proficiency & metrics: Assigns/tracks training in LMS and uses KPIs to drive continuous improvement.

Desirable skills/experience

  • Professional certifications: L&D, instructional design, or project/program management.

  • Adult learning expertise: Practical application of adult learning principles and modern ID methods.

  • Biopharma/GPS experience: Exposure to R&D or Patient Safety and collaboration with Science Units.

  • Advanced AI learning tools: Experience with personalization, adaptive pathways, and learning analytics.
