Director, Business Planning and Operations
The Director, Business Planning and Operations (BPO), supports the Late-stage Development CVRM and organisation with critical aspects of its business processes, change management, strategic and operational planning and execution, as well as continuous improvement. This involves the project management of new and innovative processes and interactions with counterparts in other process groups in R&D.
Responsibilities:
Working with Head of Business Planning and Operations and Science and Engagement Lead to define, implement, monitor and communicate strategic goals of business processes, change management and continuous improvement.
Develops plans for talent management, staff training and recruitment according to the annual business cycle
Will work closely with Head of Business Planning and Operations to ensure optimal usage of available resources, both people and funds, to deliver the greatest level of productivity and maximum value for the organisation
Will develop function scorecard and track progress
Lead complex projects in Late CVRM, partnering with other functions outside of Late CVRM as necessary to drive enterprise-wide solutions
Requires regular contact with persons of influence and in decision-making positions within AstraZeneca globally
Requires a high level of cultural sensitivity, interactive communication, negotiation and effective collaboration. This necessitates considerable tact, discretion and persuasion to obtain desired outcomes while maintaining ongoing professional relationships
Requirements:
Essential:
Bachelor’s degree
Leadership skills, including the ability to solve problems and develop multiple options/recommendations
Ability to act independently, decisively & manage complex processes
Extensive networking skills, ability to interact widely and effectively across global & functional boundaries, both internally & externally
Proven ability to work cross functionally with multiple customers and on multiple projects simultaneously
Drug development experience and understanding stages of development milestones
Experience in portfolio and resource management
High attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent written, presentation and verbal communications skills
Proven track record of delivering tasks in a timely manner
Problem solving attitude with a focus on delivery
Ability to build strong relationships, influence decisions & build teams
Desirable:
Master’s Degree, such as MBA
Proven project leadership/project management experience within a pharmaceutical environment
Qualification in Project Management
Track-record of innovation delivering improved business outcomes
Advanced skills in Planit, ResourceIT
Experience in the fields of Regulatory and/or Biometrics
