The GBS Data Office (GDO) sits within Global Business Services (GBS), a function providing value to the business by simplifying the way work is done and reducing the complexity that often gets in the way of our scientists and commercial leaders who are targeting to develop and deliver life changing medicines to 200 million patients by 2025.  The GDO provides Finance data governance and assurance functions alongside finance data management services. In addition to this, the GDO are responsible for the processes and systems related to the Delegation of Authority.

In this role, you will report to the Senior Director, Finance Data.

This role will be a 12 month Fixed Term assignment providing maternity cover.  This will be an exciting assignment as along with the delivery of the normal BAU activity, this role will also complete the implementation and launch of the next generation GDOA application and supporting other transformation projects like Axial. This will be an excellent development experience to lead a global system implementation, drive business process changes and policy improvements, establish new ways of working and cooperating with Senior Leaders from supported SET areas.

In this role, your responsibilities are:

1. Sustain the existing GDOA process

  • Manage the BAU operations for all DoA queries and project related requirements
  • You will manage a small team located in India
  • Own and manage the GDoA Policy, Process, Application, SharePoint as well as global SOX compliance/controls
  • Deliver direct/indirect support to GDoA Administrators/Process Experts/Service Partners, Project Managers, IT CSMs, etc.
  • Provide GDoA support to other AZ change programs which impact the DOA where required
  • Develop partnerships with a network of SET Area leads to address business questions related to the DOA limits and policy.  This can include working directly with SET Area Finance VPs and SET members
  • Promoting GDoA across the organization through expert global knowledge of end-to-end GDoA system processes, web-based training programs and internal communications channels
  • Working with and managing key partners across all functional Areas and key financial systems to deliver support, approval limits & routing structures
  • Leading on GDOA process & policy review and simplificaiton to deliver the greater value for the business & support AZ in delivering 2030 bold ambition.

2. Leading the delivery of the new Global DOA 2.0 system this will include:-

  • Leading the finalization of project to achieve a challenging delivery plan
  • Drive the business change plan to secure strong adoption of the new system and process
  • Secure the AZ control environment with effective process design that achieve the SoX and FCF control objectives
  • Creatively address any business delivery risk and issues
  • Make strategic decision about new DoA application functionalities
  • Lead project steering committees

Key skills required:

  • Ability to clearly communicate with executive level stakeholders to capture requirements and provide challenge where necessary
  • Excellent level of knowledge and experience in information and knowledge management
  • Experience of working with and leading internal global business processes and information/projects
  • Experience of working in a global organization with complex/geographical context
  • Strong networking and consulting skills with good external links
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills with the ability to influence others to achieve objectives
  • Proven experience of the application of policies, procedures and guidelines within a quality, compliance, and legal environment
  • Ability to convince and manage negotiations across a complex group
  • Ability to interpret and communicate detailed technical information into business language
  • Experience of driving change and leading innovative solutions
  • A proven record of accomplishment of delivering business value and awareness of service levels

Desirable skills:

  • Experience of defining and implementing GDoA processes and controls in a global complex organization
  • Experience of managing and coaching people
  • Commanding presence is influential when communicating direction and expected outcomes,
  • Delivers message confidently and is consistent, removes blockers to success.
  • Understanding of Sarbanes Oxley S404 internal control requirements, with accomplishments in establishing assurance models across business groups and processes.
  • Process improvement (LEAN, Six Sigma) expertise preferred
