The Project, Portfolio & Alliances (PPA) group within Precision Medicine & Biosamples (PMB), is accountable for providing project, portfolio and alliance management to the AZ R&D Precision Medicine portfolio; to ensure successful delivery of diagnostic projects, for CRO partner management for Human Biological Samples used in clinical trials, as well as programme management for key strategic capability build initiatives that bring innovative new approaches to our portfolio. Furthermore, this group is responsible for coordinating the development of robust functional investment cases, and for the operational management of PMB in line with the AZ business cycle.

The PMB Business Intelligence & Analytics Director is a key leadership role with responsibility for shaping the data/ information management, governance and reporting strategy for the Precision Medicne project portfolio.  You will develop a comprehensive BI strategy aligned with organisational goals, ensuring scalable and innovative solutions to enable information/ knowledge sharing, to report achievements, share business insights and to aid critical business decision making. You will lead a team of Information/ Business Analysts to optimise data management/ reporting and to drive automation and best practice.  You will also collaborate/ influence across the AZ enterprise to integrate data sets from multiple sources to define, build and maintain a suite of automated management reports, and will drive education and engagement across PMB to ensure optimum uptake and usuage to increase productivity and speed decision making.

Responsibilities:

Optimise portfolio reporting and visualisation for the precision medicine portfolio

  • Lead the development of analytics capabilities and ensure that data insights are effectively integrated into business decisions
  • Implement and maintain overarching responsibility for a robust governance and information/ data management framework
  • Drive automation of processes and reporting using advanced PowerBI and AI platforms
  • Develop and maintain overarching responsibility for a suite of management reports and dashboards that provide critical information; to showcase precision medicine leadership, to provide long term forecasts, to identify productivity gains and trends over the lifetime of diagnostic development, and to demonstrate PMBs value to the business.  Communicate and embed these into BAU working practices across the PMB team.
  • Lead process to establish, communicate and report Precision Medicine priorities – bringing R&D and business insights to aid decision making and to ensure optimal use of PMB resource
  • Ensure visibility and robust management and mitigation risk

Lead a team of highly motivated Data/ Business analysts and Information Managers

  • Develop and communicate inspiring vision and purpose and create a culture of innovation, openness, shared learning, inclusion and diversity
  • Develop and retain a high performing team and build Portfolio and Information Management capabilities and expertise through coaching, training and continuous learning
  • Identify development opportunities and effectively plan for succession and business continuity
  • Contribute to a culture of shared learning, innovation and inclusion across PMB and PPA teams


Essential

  • Experience of working in complex and fast paced environment such as pharmaceutical industry or large corporate company
  • Extensive experience of Business Intelligence reporting design and implementation inc familiarisation with advanced analytic tools
  • Ability to design and interpret complex data models, KPIs and metrics to support business objectives
  • Proven ability to proactively drive and influence positive change and continuous improvement through automation and fostering a data driven culture
  • Previous experience of managing delivery through global and matrix teams

Desirable

  • Experience in delivery of precision medicines inc navigating regulatory pathways for Companion Diagnostic submission and approval
  • Track record of translating complex business needs and reporting in simple engaging way
  • Previous experience in a similar role
