Are you ready to make a significant impact in the field of genomics? AstraZeneca is seeking a Genomics Scientist to join our Oncology Translational Medicine department. This role offers an opportunity to utilize Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) to contribute to translational oncology efforts. Accountabilities:

As a Genomics Scientist, you will perform NGS assays on patient tissues to support clinical trial exploratory endpoints. You will document sample chain of custody and experimental work in Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) to ensure compliance with AstraZeneca regulatory standards. You will also perform DNA and RNA extractions on a variety of tissues and work with informatics partners to QC and deliver sequencing data.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Genomics, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related field with 0 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with Next Generation Sequencing
  • Experience with nucleic acid extractions and library preparation
  • Ability to follow laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain accurate records of laboratory activities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis and interpretation
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in working within a CLIA, CAP regulated laboratory
  • Demonstrable knowledge of oncology, including mutational drivers, current treatment options and mechanisms of resistance

The annual base salary (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $87,703.20 - $131,554.80. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles) or to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
