Job Title: Co-op Chemical Biology & Proteomics
Location: Waltham, MA

Duration: 6 month Co-op

Are you passionate about scientific discovery and eager to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry? AstraZeneca’s Chemical Biology and Proteomics group within Discovery Sciences is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individuals for a co-op position lasting up to 6 months. This opportunity will allow you to contribute to groundbreaking research on a cross-functional team, gain hands-on exposure to innovative laboratories and proteomics instrumentation, and work with and be mentored by pharmaceutical scientists to accelerate your career. Join us and be part of a team that leverages chemical tools and proteomics technologies to conduct profiling and mechanistic studies, enabling project progression towards the clinic.

Accountabilities

  • Design, optimize, and execute proteomic assays to support mechanistic studies that elucidate novel disease biology and/or mechanism of therapeutics.

  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, maintaining detailed laboratory records.

  • Participate as a fully-integrated member of a cross-functional team in meetings and present research findings.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Currently enrolled graduate student pursuing a Masters or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Biological Sciences or related field.

  • Available to work full-time (in-person) for approximately 6 months from either early January to June, or July to December 2026.

  • Candidate must be self-motivated with a desire to learn, and an ability to effectively work both collaboratively and independently.

**Please note when applying for this position, you must have consent from PI and the University. If selected for an interview, you should be prepared to submit letters of recommendation, a brief research description and a copy of transcripts. Students must be enrolled in their graduate studies during the duration of the Co-op.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Exposure to mammalian cell culture.

  • Hands-on experience processing proteomics samples is a plus.

  • Experience interpreting and/or generating figures for proteomics datasets.
