Your role will involve strategic partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders, anticipating their needs, and translating them into actionable plans. You'll support the strategic planning and delivery of medical affairs initiatives for specific brands, ensuring optimal contributions from the cross-functional team within the Oncology Business Unit. With a patient-centric approach, you'll build confidence in therapeutic area products and contribute to clinical development and medical evidence generation.
As a member of our Medical Affairs team, you will:
- Develop and execute the integrated medical affairs plan for our rapidly growing GI portfolio, ensuring adherence to associated budgetary guidelines.
- Provide ongoing medical and clinical expertise to inform brand strategy, supporting successful product launches and life cycle management for new and growth brands.
- Proactively identify, communicate, and help address data gaps and unmet needs of external stakeholders.
- Serve as medical reviewer for activities and promotional materials, ensuring strict compliance with relevant guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across business units, including market access, regulatory affairs, medical information, patient safety, diagnostics, and clinical trials.
- Ensure the scientific and medical accuracy of all outgoing materials, research papers, and reports, with sign-off authority as applicable.
- Build and strengthen professional relationships with healthcare professionals (HCPs), key external experts (KEEs), professional societies, and patient organizations.
- Generate actionable product insights through regular peer-to-peer field visits (spending approximately 20-30% of your time in the field) and share these insights with internal stakeholders.
- Organize and facilitate medical education events, scientific exchange sessions, and advisory board meetings.
- Lead and deliver training on the medical aspects and background of relevant products.
- Evaluate external research (ESR) proposals as part of the local review process, and support projects through to successful milestone delivery.
- Provide scientific and strategic guidance to Medical Science Liaison (MSL) activities, with opportunities to mentor MSLs.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best scientific practices and emerging developments relevant to the therapeutic area.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- MD, PhD, PharmD or comparable degree in natural sciences
- >2 years professional experience working in the pharmaceutical industry, preferentially as MSL, or MA or within Medical Affairs
- Thorough knowledge of the local regulatory and market access requirements related to medical affairs activities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the legal and ethical framework and the procedural guidelines that apply to the promotion and approval of medicinal products in Austria (Pharmacodex, Compliance)
- Experience in liaising with healthcare professionals
- Quick self-learner, ability, and willingness to work in a team and independently
- Communicative competence and presentation skills
- Very good knowledge of spoken and written German and English
- Ability to sift through and critically evaluate large amounts of data, distill and synthesize information, put it into context and evaluate its impact on the business
- Driver`s license B, and willingness to drive within whole Austria
- Proficient in MS Office tools
