Medical Advisor – Oncology (Lung Cancer)

Accountabilities:

External Medical & Scientific Engagement 

  • Identify and collaborate with healthcare professionals (HCPs) with high scientific expertise for medical activities such as advisory boards, symposia, and clinical trials.
  • Build and maintain relationships with scientific leaders and decision-makers.
  • Develop and implement Key External Expert (KEE) engagement plans.
  • Spend 50% of time in the field engaging key external stakeholders.
  • Enhance scientific knowledge about AZ products and therapy areas, discussing data objectively.
  • Disseminate clinical study results to the medical community and integrate them into business strategies.
  • Respond to unsolicited requests about unapproved AZ products or uses, presenting information scientifically.

Development and initiation of scientific programs for unmet medical needs

  • Initiate discussions on HCP involvement in clinical trials addressing unmet needs.
  • Conduct basic discussions on clinical trial design and feasibility.
  • Support clinical team in selecting investigators and sites.

Medical & Scientific Support for internal AZ stakeholders:

  • Participate in cross-functional brand teams within the therapy area.
  • Provide insights into local medical community trends and gaps in scientific knowledge.
  • Contribute to TA Brand Plans and medical budget allocation.
  • Develop and implement local medical plans aligned with brand plans.
  • Prepare pre-launch plans and activities for new products.
  • Train internal stakeholders on TA products or disease area knowledge.

Governance and adherence to processes and regulations

  • Provide medical input for promotional materials and events.
  • Ensure compliance with internal SOPs, industry codes, and local regulations.
  • Maintain company confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Biomedicine university degree (Medicine preferable)
  • Fluent knowledge of the English language
  • Driver’s license
  • At least three years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry in Medical Affairs
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Expertise in discussing scientific content with various audiences
  • Excellent presentation skills: oral, written communication, interpersonal skills
  • Extensive experience in relationship and stakeholder management
  • Project management experience
  • Product lifecycle understanding
  • Initiative, self-motivation, engagement
  • Strong personal capacity for learning

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Advanced scientific degree
  • Understanding of multiple aspects of Medical Affairs
  • Extensive knowledge of the latest technical and regulatory developments
