Associate Business Analyst - GBS Analytics

As a successful role holder, you will be working as part of the GBS Analytics department. The key priorities are to provide automated insights & analytics at scale for HR stakeholders in AstraZeneca. This position will be responsible for working on multiple projects, collaborating with business process teams to define business requirements, understand business logic & data models to lead an agile team in producing high-value digital analytics product, where those products maximise the effectiveness of AZ decision-making.
The ideal candidate:
Proven ability to translate project requirements into a functional product, preferably having strong hands-on experience in both the technology, the subject matter & the process in a typical software development lifecycle to implement business requirements.
Is naturally inquisitive & can relate with their customers’ professional lives and the decisions they take.This includes wanting to build a rich understanding of AZ’s functions (Ideally in HR).
Obsessive about customer satisfaction and building great products, but they are also pragmatic in making product-feature trade-offs to deliver value as quickly as possible to customers through Agile delivery.
Can “talk tech” with Engineers, “talk design” with UX Designers, and “talk decision science” with Decision Scientists, but leave implementation choices to the relevant teammates, providing only “healthy challenge” on the customer’s behalf.
Is willing to practise breadth as well as depth – e.g. willing to learn & take on the Scrum Master role if needed & eager to help evangelise the GBS Analytics value-proposition throughout AZ in ways appropriate to the scope of this role.
The role will work semi-autonomously with direct supervision from senior team members and is expected to provide task management support & guidance to developers.
Key Responsibilities
Help develop and maintain a prioritised roadmap and user-stories that reflects the customer’s perspective
Represent the customer within the GBS Analytics team from product/service inception through to in-life support
Managing (agile) & coordinating the work of developers to deliver the required results
Manage the process of turning these requirements into end-to-end analytics products
Managing & coordinating the work of developers to deliver the required results
Defining and establishing support mechanisms so that the solution will persist in a reliable manner
Ensuring that work produced by the teams conform to designs and development standards so that economies of scale can be achieved during the support phase
Contribute to the development of the GBS Analytics value-proposition – e.g. via “sales and marketing” activities, and by maintaining awareness of external (non-AZ) best practices and insights
Essential Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline
Strong background and experience (1+ years) in analytics/BI in a shared services environment
Business analysis skills to analyse data & quickly grasp technical and organisational concepts rapidly.
Interpersonal skills with customers & team members
Familiarity with analytics best-practices & business intelligence tools: PowerBI, SQL
Excellent written and verbal communication in English
Desirable
Proven experience working on HR related analytics
Knowledge and experience of working with HR ERP data such as Workday, Degreed, ServiceNow.
Proven experience of involvement in producing analytic related products eg: Power Platform, Decision Science & AI products, Data Products.
Experience with Scrum Master, Agile concepts & project management tools eg: Jira, Confluence
Experience of working within a global organisation
Basic understanding of Data Modelling, data structures, ETL, querying/programming language
