The Medical Evidence Delivery Operations within the Oncology Business Unit (OBU) is responsible for the operational delivery of observational and interventional AstraZeneca sponsored studies (AZ studies), externally sponsored research (ESR) and early access programs (EAP) in order to generate the evidence to build confidence in and provide access to AstraZeneca therapies for patients in need.
The Manager, Data & Analytics role (MDA) will support analysing delivery operations data from across AZ studies, ESR and EAP and will be responsible for developing reports, visualizations and dashboards to aid data review, identify data quality issues and enable data-driven decisions by the OBU Evidence Delivery Leadership Team (OBU EDLT).
The role will work closely with Associate Director, Data & Analytics and focus on managing existing data & analytics environment as well as participate and/or lead planning, designing and launching new initiatives. The whole Data & Analytics Team will principally support all leaders in the OBU EDLT and will collaborate across OBU to implement best practice analytical solutions that will serve EGP2 (Evidence Generation, Publications and Partnerships) in deploying vision, strategy and adequate processes to improve operational performance. The MDA will ensure robust data extraction from various sources and will provide a consolidated view of the EGP2 portfolio with different granularities.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, and develop analytics solutions for evidence portfolio that are stable and scalable and ensure transparency of data
• Build insightful visualizations to meet business needs using the newest technologies
• Monitor functionality of the tools, systems and metrics used by EGP2 and deliver training to end users
• Support activities to streamline data collection and data integrations as well as ensure high data quality into our systems and metrics
• Work together with collaborators from different departments to assist in crafting, upgrading, and managing the systems used by EGP2
• Maintain the key performance metrics (KPI) for the OBU Evidence Delivery Team and each activity type to enable reliable productivity assessment
• Analyse past and present data and deliver high quality periodic and ad hoc analyses to customers
• Assist in revision and development of standard operating procedures and working instructions as needed
• Actively participate on major business initiatives, including improvement projects
Essential Education, Experience & Skills:
Previous work experience involving data engineering such as database design and administration, setup and maintenance of data pipelines
▪ Working knowledge of core concepts in data visualization design and data storytelling
▪ Demonstrate experience using BI tools to create interactive data visualizations, reports and dashboards
▪ Strong capability on Business Analysis, Project Management and Documentation
▪ Proven data interrogation and interpretation capability and the ability to translate findings into conclusions
▪ Proven analytical and strategic thinking
▪ Good organizational and prioritization skills
▪ Experience of communicating complex information at a senior level both verbally and written
Ability to build relationships with end users and have a customer-focused approach
▪ High level of cultural sensitivity, interactive communication, negotiation and effective collaboration
▪ Good networking skills, ability to interact widely and effectively both internally and externally
▪ University degree (or equivalent) in business and or/sciences
Desired Experience & Skills:
Several years’ experience working within a Pharmaceutical organisation, preferably related to clinical trials
▪ Knowledge of the different types of medical activities, including evidence study delivery
▪ Experience of effective working in a multi-cultural team in a virtual environment
▪ Knowledge of Lean / Agile methodologies
