Accountabilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Define, communicate, and drive a multi-year patient services data strategy, aligning to business priorities and evolving patient experience goals.

  • Business Alignment: Act as the main thought partner for Patient Services leaders, interpreting business objectives and translating them into data initiatives and solutions.

  • Platform Innovation: Guide the design, development, and continuous optimization of advanced data platforms (data warehouse, self-service BI), leveraging industry best practices and emerging technologies.

  • Governance & Compliance: Establish and refine data governance frameworks with rigorous controls, ensuring privacy and compliance (HIPAA, PHI/PII).

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong partnerships across Commercial, US Patient Services, IT, Finance, Legal, and Compliance teams to execute integrated strategies, manage data intersection points, and uphold data stewardship principles.

  • Analytics Excellence: Oversee the production of strategic dashboards and reporting systems that empower Patient Services leadership with actionable intelligence for daily operations and long-term planning.

  • Change Management: Direct complex change initiatives, including business process transformation and large-scale system implementations, minimizing business disruption.

  • Team Leadership: Recruit, coach, and empower a team of analysts and data professionals to deliver high-impact data products, reporting, modeling, and visualization.

  • Continuous Improvement: Champion a culture of innovation and automation, proactively identifying opportunities to advance data quality, accessibility, and utility across Patient Services.

  • US Patient Services Partnership: Provide hands-on expertise and strategic guidance to US Patient Services teams, ensuring the data strategy meets their business requirements and supports top-tier patient outcomes.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum 8+ years in data management, architecture, governance, analytics, metadata, ETL, pharmaceutical data platforms/warehousing, and BI tools, with at least 5 years in people leadership roles.

  • Team Leadership Experience: Proven ability to hire, manage, and mentor team members, fostering professional growth and delivering results.

  • Strategic Impact: Demonstrated success in leading data strategy at a senior level, ideally supporting Patient Services teams in the US.

  • Technical Expertise: In-depth hands-on experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Azure), advanced SQL, SAS/R/Python, VBA, and BI tools (QlikView, Qlik Sense, Tableau, PowerBI etc).

  • Data Governance: Proven track record managing data governance and compliance for sensitive patient data (PHI/PII/HIPAA).

  • Project Leadership: Expertise managing large, strategic change programs and complex system implementations.

  • Stakeholder Management: Strong collaborator with executive presence and ability to influence senior leadership.

  • Pharmaceutical Knowledge: Profound understanding of Patient Services operations, Patient access, Patient Hub data flows, pharmaceutical data sources (Patient Access/HUB, Specialty Pharmacy, IQVIA/IMS, SHA/Symphony Health), and best practices in pharma analytics.

  • Communication: Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex data concepts to senior stakeholders.

  • Analytical Thinking: Exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, and prioritization abilities, balancing strategic vision with tactical execution.

  • Travel: Ability to travel in Canada and the US for key meetings and business reviews (~10%).

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Advanced Degree: Master’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Business, or related field.

  • Rare Disease Experience: Prior experience in rare disease Patient Services organizations and commercial operations.

  • Big Data & Innovation Exposure: Familiarity with leading big data solutions (Hadoop, Hive, Spark) and driving continuous improvement in a dynamic ecosystem.

  • Industry Leadership:

Recognized thought leader in evolving data management trends, espousing a proactive approach to future-proofing data strategy.
