Operations Procurement is at the forefront of establishing external manufacturing partners for these new technologies emerging in the AZ early pipeline.

Accountabilities

Reporting to the Director External Manufacturing Procurement (Clinical), the Associate Director role is key to shaping AstraZeneca’s supplier landscape to support our emerging pipeline of large molecules through manufacturing of Drug Substance (DS) for Phase 1-3 supply. You will be at the forefront of establishing external partners through market analysis and sourcing projects, collaborating closely with business partners in Biopharmaceutical Development (BPD) & Global Technical Operations (GTO). You will lead the relevant Clinical Category Strategy, working closely with other Associate Directors in the Commercial External Manufacturing Procurement team to connect the clinical and commercial needs of the business, directly contributing to savings, sustainability & speed targets.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Degree-level education in Procurement, Business, Law or Science (Chemistry, Biology, etc.) or equivalent qualifications

  • Excellent working knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry

  • Knowledge of new biotechnology platforms

  • Minimum 5 years in Procurement / Business Development roles

  • Project & time management

  • Supplier relationship management, negotiation & influencing

  • Technical expertise in at least one Procurement area, and competence in several others

  • Communication skills and ability to influence others

  • Excellent collaborator

  • Stakeholder Management

  • Comfort with risk and ambiguous situations

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Held roles in Bio Tech or Pharma

  • Sustainability platform requirements of CDMOs

  • Digital Management & System Usage

  • Use of collaboration platforms like Sharepoint, Box etc.
