Introduction to role
Are you ready to lead and innovate in the field of epidemiology? As the Associate Director, Epidemiology Registries, you will provide global direction and leadership for Alexion-sponsored global Registry programs. This strategic and scientific role involves minimal supervision and positions you as the primary contact within the Epidemiology-Real World Science (Epi-RWS) department. You will support rare disease real-world evidence generation, collaborating with department personnel and external vendors to plan, implement, and finish evidence generation activities. Your work will contribute to publications and regulatory submissions, ensuring analytical deliverables are efficient, accurate, and timely. You will develop an Epidemiology strategic plan that aligns with corporate needs and collaborate with other lead Epidemiologists to incorporate appropriate perspectives into the plan. This role involves working with different departments, requiring collaboration and partner coordination.
Accountabilities
- Developing strategic plans for Epidemiology evidence generation activities across the Alexion-sponsored Registries to support company objectives.
- Providing oversight to vendors to ensure Epidemiology evidence generation deliverables are driven in accordance with the plan.
- Serving as the primary point of contact within the Epidemiology department for the Alexion-sponsored Registries, providing Epidemiology leadership to Clinical Operations, Statistical Programming, Data Management, Patient Safety, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Writing, Scientific Communications, and Global Medical Affairs.
- Ensuring epidemiology perspective into company materials e.g., study protocols, case report forms (CRFs), and regulatory documents associated with the Alexion-sponsored Registries.
- Representing the department during interactions with key internal and/or external partners.
- Critical appraisal and synthesis of relevant epidemiological literature.
- Maintain awareness of epidemiology with respect to regulatory requirements, payer trends, and advancement of pharmacoepidemiology methods.
- Actively participates in development and maintenance of Epi-RWS department Standard Operating Procedures / Process Guides.
- Travel may be required (up to 10%).
Essential Skills/Experience
- PhD / DSc / DrPH in Epidemiology with at least 3 years industry experience in the pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology, or consulting environment, or MPH/MSc in Epidemiology with at least 6 years industry experience in the pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology, or consulting environment.
- The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. - Thorough and up-to-date technical knowledge of epidemiology and relevant biostatistics methods
- Experience and familiarity using SAS or other statistical software packages
