Are you ready to make a significant impact in the world of engineering project delivery? As a Project Control Quantity Surveyor, you'll support our Engineering Project delivery team with crucial project lifecycle activities. From portfolio cost management and cashflow to capital funding applications and SAP reporting, your expertise will be invaluable. You'll provide Quantity Surveying functionality for both pre and post sanction, as well as pre and post contract activities on projects. Collaborate closely with the Project Control Lead to ensure seamless financial reporting for the CPS Department to the AZ Finance function. Are you up for the challenge?

Accountabilities

Your role is pivotal in delivering an efficient and effective Quantity Surveying service that meets all cost and contract management requirements. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you'll take on a variety of responsibilities that may be supplemented by further duties as defined by AZ's Project Control Lead. Dive into developing class D estimates for new project justification phases, build class B estimates for budget sanction phases, and apply AZ historic cost data to develop detailed cost estimates. You'll assist in creating yearly phased budgets, provide Basis of Estimate (BoE), and ensure alignment between Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) and Work Breakdown Structure. Manage monthly spend forecasts, lead project risk workshops, support tender processes, and validate payments in line with contract terms. Your expertise will be crucial in evaluating contract claims and supporting project reviews and audits.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Honours degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Business related subject
  • Knowledge of Project management framework and Engineering Project Process (UK) and the application of best practices and the effective deployment of project strategies in technically complex customer environments
  • Knowledge and application of business decision making tools and processes
  • Application of Capital Investment Guidelines
  • Understanding and use of Contract/Commercial agreements
  • Understanding and use of site SHE standards and guidance, including CDM requirements and experience of implementing processes to ensure compliance
  • Experience of integrated risk management and the methods employed to manage engineering risks, hazards and controls
  • Understanding of NEC4 Contracts

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Working towards or acquired Professional Qualification with a recognized European accrediting body such as e.g. RICS, Assoc. Cost Eng.
  • 10+ years of experience in cost control
  • Knowledge of Cost Centre management skills to ensure effective delivery of the budget
  • Understanding of the range of customer business operations across AstraZeneca, and understanding of the operating model of the AZ business
  • Strong technical background, with knowledge of engineering principles and practices applied across the lifecycle of asset and facilities design and utility operations
  • Understanding of all the services delivered by an FM delivery organization and will understand their impact on customers
  • Bio-pharmaceutical experience & knowledge
