Introduction to role

The Head of Sourcing & Supply leads several supply-related functions at Macclesfield, including Planning, Warehousing, Distribution, Data Management, Pack Change, and Project Management. This role, in collaboration with the Site QA lead and Process Execution Team Directors or Head of Zoladex and Packing, ensures efficient and compliant supply of products to markets while driving continuous improvement in overall supply performance.

Accountabilities

• Provides leadership to the Planning function on-site, ensuring effective long-term tactical and strategic planning and efficient operational scheduling to deliver high levels of customer service and minimal stock levels while enabling asset efficiency.
• Delivers compliant and efficient inbound and outbound supply into the site through effective Materials Planning, Warehousing, and Distribution management.
• Ensures compliant Pack Change management and accurate data for the site.
• Leads the Project Management function for the site, ensuring strong project delivery for all supply chain projects in Operations on the site.
• Leads the organization through transformational changes such as Axial.
• Establishes strong business links with Global Supply Chain, External Supply & Manufacturing, and key Marketing Company stakeholders to understand future supply needs and develop supply strategies that support sales growth and enhance efficiency.
• Owns processes related to Manage Customer (including Planning), Manage Supplier, Deliver Projects, and Deliver Product Site Processes.
• Contributes to the development of AstraZeneca-wide policy and process within the supply area, partnering with Global Supply Chain leadership to provide input into strategic direction for Supply Chain.
• Supports senior staff in coaching and developing talent to ensure a healthy talent pipeline and succession for senior positions.
• Role models AstraZeneca leadership capabilities and supports senior employees in motivating and empowering staff to deliver outstanding performance and customer service.

Essential Skills/Experience

• Graduate status or equivalent level of experience
• Deep experience in supply chain management, planning, and logistics within a manufacturing, sales, and marketing environment. Preferably in pharmaceutical manufacturing but not essential
• Advanced commercial acumen and ability to influence and direct stakeholder decision-making at senior levels
• Leadership skills of large team to provide direction
• Proven ability to drive change regionally within a diverse and matrix organizational environment 
• Advanced business management skill-set including both financial planning and team management

Desirable Skills/Experience

• Master Degree/ MBA
• Safety Health and Environmental and Good Manufacturing Practice qualifications
• Experience of Business Process Management and effective application of Lean principles
