About the Opportunity:
As an Undergraduate Placement Data Analysis Specialist, you will support our Decision Sciences team in tackling a variety of data challenges: from understanding data sources to helping unlock insights that drive business decisions. This placement is designed to help you consolidate your knowledge, apply theory from your studies to practical scenarios, and develop foundational skills for a career in data analysis.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be actively involved in core aspects of our data analysis work, collaborating with experienced analysts and engineers to learn and contribute as part of a supportive team. Here’s what your placement will involve:
You’ll work closely with business users and technical teams to capture and clarify their data requirements. Through hands-on involvement, you’ll see how data can be structured and shaped to solve business problems and support scientific innovation.
You’ll get to profile data sets, examining their source, structure, and quality, and learn how we ensure that our data is reliable and compliant with relevant standards. Sometimes you’ll help with wrangling data: sourcing, extracting, and preparing it for use in models, reports, and insights. This is a fantastic opportunity to see the data lifecycle in action and learn best practices from experts.
You’ll support the engineering teams by helping test how well our data solutions work and participate in designing and checking data models that underpin vital analytics projects. Throughout, you’ll be involved in ensuring that our data flows securely and ethically, working with controls that keep us aligned with privacy and regulatory policies.
A highlight will be working directly with experienced data analysts, engineers, scientists, and IT professionals across various teams. They’ll mentor you, answer your questions, and help you connect classroom knowledge to company projects.
