Introduction to role

Are you ready to lead the transformation of AstraZeneca UK's private oncology business?

The Private Healthcare Strategic Lead will drive the strategic optimisation of AstraZeneca’s private oncology business, providing expert leadership across supply chain, commercial, medical, and policy interfaces. This role is central to identifying and capitalising on opportunities within the complex private healthcare landscape, being responsible for governance on parallel trade and grey trade, and ensuring alignment for both strategic and operational delivery. Acting as a key conduit between external private sector stakeholders and internal AZ teams, including analytics, commercial launch, and medical functions, the Strategic Lead will deliver insight-driven strategies and tactics to maximise market access, commercial performance, and launch excellence. They will also take a lead role in developing and completing commercial constructs for self-pay/out-of-pocket markets, supporting pathway optimization, and implementing targeted non-promotional campaigns.

Accountabilities:

Strategic Roadmap Development:

Lead the development, operationalization, and governance of a roadmap to optimise private market performance, collaborating closely with the Head of Private Partnerships.

Parallel Trade and Grey Trade Governance:

Employ strong governance and operational solutions to eliminate grey trade activity and ensure UK-credited parallel trade, bringing insights from analytics and supply chain partners.

Insight-Driven Execution:

Liaise and integrate with analytics, medical, and launch excellence teams to align on key tactics and ensure execution of best-practice and consistent delivery, including for alliance brands.

Market Opportunity Identification:

Analyse market bottlenecks and emerging opportunities, synthesising insights across business intelligence, regulatory, medical, commercial, and market access teams.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Foster and uphold alliances at enterprise and local levels with business counterparts such as PMIs, private healthcare providers, and affiliated organisations. Act as a conduit for high-quality, aligned, targeted non-promotional campaigns.

Commercial Constructs and Self-Pay Market Development:

Lead the design of commercial arrangements and innovative self-pay/out-of-pocket solutions for situations where public or private insurance access is unavailable.

Horizon Scanning and Pathway Optimization:

Assist medical teams in horizon scanning activities and pathway development to improve patient access to AZ medicines in the private sector.

Best-Practice Sharing and Alliance Coordination:

Share insights and best practice across franchise, field commercial, and partnership teams to strengthen market understanding and delivery.
