At AstraZeneca, we’re dedicated to empowering you to push the boundaries of science and unleash your entrepreneurial spirit. Here, you can make a difference to medicine, patients, and society. Our expansive culture champions diversity and collaboration, always committed to lifelong learning, growth, and development. AstraZeneca’s Global Procurement Function aims to be the leading biopharmaceutical Global Procurement organization, delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions to our internal business partners. We act as trusted advisers, using best-in-class market intelligence for valuable insights, strong supplier partnerships, and effective digital tools enabling smooth and efficient processes for our organization and end users.

Accountabilities

The Strategy & Operational Excellence (S&OE) team is the backbone of Global Procurement, supporting the delivery of our vision and strategic plan to become a best-in-class function. As the Senior Director, Global Business Process Owner Procurement, you will be accountable for ensuring we have the right processes in place to deliver optimal business impact, functional efficiency, and risk mitigation. You will ensure the processes align with industry-leading standards and best practices. In this high-impact, cross-functional role, you will oversee initiatives that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our core processes in alignment with our longer-term strategic goals.

You will achieve this as leader of the Process Excellence team, which includes multiple Business Process Owners (BPOs) for each of our key processes (category management, sourcing, contracting, value management), a separate overarching process governance specialist, and additional process improvement experts to drive continuous enhancements. You will have direct exposure to the Procurement Leadership Team to drive process excellence, highlight improvement opportunities, enable process change and report on process performance.

You will also work with colleagues across broader S&OE to ensure effective and efficient ways of working with our partners in Global Business Services and Global Finance Services, who execute on key parts of the procurement value chain. Furthermore, Lean and Digital are critical aspects to us becoming more agile and productive as a function and are key components in shaping the strategic direction of our processes. You will collaborate closely with subject matter experts in Lean and Digital to understand their strategies, ensuring alignment with the business process needs and contributing to the ongoing evolution of these strategies.

Essential Skills/Experience
• Proven experience in process excellence within a Global Procurement or Supply Chain environment.
• Credible and influential leader, including leading teams. Ability to build and actively maintain positive relationships with internal/external partners.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to think strategically.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence others.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
• Ability to use data and insights to drive innovation.
• Experience in driving projects and wider change management in a global environment.

When we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines. In-person working gives us the platform we need to connect, work at pace and challenge perceptions. That's why we work, on average, a minimum of three days per week from the office. But that doesn't mean we're not flexible. We balance the expectation of being in the office while respecting individual flexibility. Join us in our unique and ambitious world.

AstraZeneca offers an environment where you can broaden your mind to thrive in our dynamic setting. Take an enterprise-wide approach to influence the whole value chain from internal functions to external partners and suppliers. In our fast-paced and demanding environment, it takes resilience and commercial knowledge to anticipate and react to changing business requirements. Help us keep evolving in line with our global responsibilities by delivering rapid change with intuitive solutions.
