Radioconjugates Intern – Summer 2026
Location: Hamilton, Ontario
Onsite 5 days a week
Role Summary:
We are seeking a Masters level student majoring in Radiation Sciences, Pharmacology, Cancer Biology or a related field for a full-time, 4-Month internship from May to August 2026, with an option to extend into Fall 2026 (8-Month internship).
The intern will be an integrated member of the Radioconjugate - Discovery department within the Oncology R&D, Oncology Therapeutic Area (TA), contributing to the execution of Discovery Biology projects. Candidates should have a foundation in tissue culture and molecular biology techniques, familiarity with data analysis, and skill in the critical assessment of publications. Practical radiation laboratory experience is preferred, but not essential for the position.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Support the Radioconjugate - Discovery Biology and lead select short-term deliverables that advance radio conjugate projects
Lead or assist with development of new experimental assays and capabilities
Conduct critical review of publications in relation to the project
Participate in cross-functional meetings with broader teams , as appropriate
Maintain regular check-ins with intern manager and actively participate in regular meetings with Radioconjugate - Discovery members
Present project updates to team members and final presentation to the department.
Qualifications:
Masters level student majoring in Radiation Science, Pharmacology, Cancer Biology or a closely related field.
Graduate level Independent Research Project plus undergraduate or graduate coursework completed in: Cancer Biology, Cancer Tissue Engineering, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Radiation Biology, Independent Research Project, or closely related
Familiarity (theoretical and/or practical) with various laboratory techniques such as:
Cell culture and model systems: Adherent/suspension cells, 2D/3D spheroids, maintaining receptor-expressing lines
Assay development and quantitation: Flow cytometry, ELISA, Western/qPCR, radioligand binding/internalization assays, clonogenic assays
Data analysis: Prism; good documentation of data.
Understanding of radiation safety: knowledge of ALARA principles, dosimetry basics, contamination monitoring, and working in designated radioisotope areas (training can be provided but prior coursework or experience is a plus).
Enthusiasm for collaboration, cross-functional projects, public speaking, and presentation skills.
Minimum grade point average of 3.0.
Available to work full-time for duration of the internship.

What to Expect:
This role is a 4-month paid contract position, which starts in May 2026, and there is an option to extend to 8-months. Our position will be based in Hamilton and be 5-days on site.

Annual base salary for this position ranges from 42,908.00 to 56,316.75.AstraZeneca is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation opportunities to all colleagues.
