You’ll be working on meaningful projects to make an impact and deliver real value for our patients and our business.

Thesis work description:

This project focuses on exploring the orthogonality between Hydrophilic-Interaction Liquid Chromatography (HILIC) and Reversed-Phase Liquid Chromatography (RP) for the analysis of impurities in synthetic peptides. You will work collaboratively with our team of experts to decode the complex interactions between these chromatographic techniques, playing a vital role in enhancing the quality and sustainability of peptide synthesis — a pivotal advancement in the pharmaceutical industry.

Key Objectives:

  • Utilize HILIC and RP as orthogonal techniques to improve impurity analysis of synthetic peptides.
  • Develop innovative methodologies that will contribute significantly to quality control and purification processes.

Research Details:

Synthetic peptides are crucial candidates in drug development and are integral parts in oligonucleotide-conjugates, giving guiding functions of oligonucleotides. As the length of peptides increases, so does the complexity and number of impurities, presenting a significant challenge in chromatographic analysis and purification.

Traditionally, RP chromatographic methods are considered the gold standard; however, HILIC remains largely underexplored despite its potential in managing complex peptide analysis. In this project, you'll evaluate and optimize various chromatographic techniques and parameters for scale up to purification methods. You will also engage in advanced mass spectrometric analysis to identify and analyze impurities, as well as collaborate closely with our peptide chemistry team to develop strategies for improved peptide synthesis.

Essential Requirements:

  • Ongoing master’s studies within Pharmacy, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • BSc in chemistry, analytical chemistry or similar
  • Practical lab skills in analytical and/or preparative separation science
  • Problem-solving mindset
  • Scientific communication
