Join our Biopharmaceuticals Medical team as a Senior Director Evidence Strategy within the Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolism Therapy Area. BioPharmaceuticals Medical ensures optimal patient outcomes by equipping healthcare decision-makers globally with the evidence and confidence they need regarding AstraZeneca therapies. We offer scientific insights and medical expertise, aiming for scientific leadership while keeping patients at the core of everything we do. The BPM CVRM Evidence Strategy function spearheads evidence strategy across CVRM disease areas, encompassing various scientific studies from pragmatic interventional to observational studies based on secondary data.

Accountabilities:
• Develop and implement evidence strategy for a specific disease area and asset, aligned with overarching strategy and medical priorities.
• Manage evidence activities and resources within the applicable disease area.
• Design studies and analytical methods to generate robust scientific evidence, facilitating healthcare transformation through diverse research methodologies.
• Establish governance procedures for reviewing and approving medical studies.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to leverage relationships and achievements through diverse skills and expertise.
• Build relationships with academia, healthcare professionals/investigators, and commercial external service providers.
• Plan strategic publications and translate scientific data into relevant messaging to strengthen communication with external stakeholders.

Essential Skills/Experience:
• Doctoral level degree (PhD/PharmD/MD), or MSc with significant experience (10+ years) in evidence generation in pharma business, CRO, or academia.
• Extensive hands-on experience in clinical/observational research, drug development process, and relevant guidelines (GCP/ICH), preferably from the pharmaceutical industry, ideally including both local and global roles.
• CVRM therapeutic and disease area knowledge.
• Broad knowledge of healthcare systems and the evolving role of Medical Affairs.
• Persuasive communicator in English, with a proven ability to work collaboratively in a multi-cultural matrix environment.

Desirable Skills/Experience:
• MD with clinical experience.
• Pharma industry experience, preferably including experience from local Marketing Company.
• Experience leading and managing in a global, matrix environment.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in evidence generation strategy and delivery to support physician/payer/policy/patient needs.
• Ability to interact widely and effectively across functions, regions, and cultures.
• Experience and knowledge within compliant management of Externally Sponsored Research.
