As the Senior Director, Late Stage Product Committee (LSPC) Governance, you will play a crucial role in shaping the trajectory of our global portfolio. This high-impact position demands agility, strategic insight, and executive-level communication skills to enable robust decision-making for AstraZeneca’s Late Stage Product Committee (LSPC). Reporting to the Executive Director and Head of Portfolio & Pipeline Operations (PPO) in GPPM, you will collaborate with senior enterprise leaders to lead the LSPC agenda and guide Global Project Teams (GPTs) in delivering compelling business cases.

This is a global role with the opportunity to be based in other locations where there is a Global Hub or Strategic Site.

Accountabilities

In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Be responsible for supporting LSPC decision-making for late-stage investments, focusing on driving sound governance decisions and advancing new medicines for patients.

  • You will develop, manage, and operationalize the LSPC governance agenda, ensuring decisions are documented and communicated effectively.

  • As a guide for presenting teams, you will consult with GPTs to ensure readiness for governance interactions and influence their presentations for executive-level consumption.

  • Collaborating with GPPM senior leaders, you will deliver briefings and insights to enable effective decision-making and champion digital governance tools to enhance transparency.

  • Your collaboration with LT leaders will influence the AZ P2P governance operating model, driving simplicity and efficiency across the organization.

  • Develop, manage, and operationalize the LSPC governance agenda and timelines for investment decisions, data readouts, and strategic consultations in partnership with the Head of PPO.

  • Ensure governance decisions are documented and clearly and appropriately communicated throughout the organization.

  • Facilitate and sometimes lead governance meetings.

  • Consult directly with GPTs before, during, and after LSPC meetings to ensure readiness for governance interactions.

  • Ensure presenting teams leverage guidance, templates, and best practices. Influence teams so their presentations have clear messages and are optimal for executive-level consumption.

  • Serve as a gatekeeper to ensure presenting teams deliver presentations with the highest standards in expected content and presentational delivery.

  • In collaboration with GPPM senior leaders (e.g., Decision Support & Analytics, Therapy Area VPs, etc.), deliver briefings and insights for Core LSPC members to enable effective decision-making.

  • Propose and implement new innovations to enable effective decisions.

  • Champion digital governance tools and data visualization to improve transparency and decision velocity.

  • Influence the AZ P2P governance operating model for late-stage, including guidance, templates, and best practices for LSPC presentations and an efficient pathway for global project teams to advance projects through development.

  • Partner with GPPM and PPO colleagues to drive continuous improvements in the governance operating model with a focus on simplicity and efficiency across the AZ P2P operating model.

  • Work collaboratively to minimize silos and optimize hand off between ESPC and LSPC, rLSPC, and the underlying advisory committees.

  • Manage stakeholder engagement and effective processes with leads and secretariats for Development Review Committees (DRC) and Forecast Review Committee (FRC) as well as the Alexion rLSPC Secretariats.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree with minimum 10 years of relevant experience

  • Broad enterprise experience (Required: Drug development. Preferred: Finance; Commercial; Analysis; Strategy)

  • Experience serving on a Global Project Team (Preferred) and/or working across a global organization

  • Experience influencing and communicating effectively with senior/executive leaders, including delivery of presentations

Total Rewards

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $189,627.20 to 284,440.80 USD. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
