Scientist - Biomolecular Interactions
Join AstraZeneca's Biologics Engineering (BE) team, where we turn ideas into life-changing medicines. We are looking for a motivated scientist to join our Biomolecular Interactions Group (BMIG) within the multidisciplinary Protein Analytics & Developability team. As a Scientist in the Biomolecular Interactions Group, you will be instrumental in advancing our kinetic characterization of antibody-antigen and antibody Fc receptor interactions in late discovery, early development, and pre-clinical stages. Reporting to the Associate Director of the Biomolecular Interactions group, the successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team in a lab-based role to support the later stages of our pipeline projects and contribute to the enhancement of our technology platforms.
Key Accountabilities:
- Independently design, perform, and interpret SPR-based kinetic assays across various formats, including mono- and multi-specific molecules, ADCs, and radioconjugates.
- Conduct detailed studies of Fc receptor interactions by SPR and chromatographic techniques.
- Analyze complex biosensor and chromatographic datasets; prepare detailed technical reports, and presentations.
- Present findings in collaborative scientific forums, contribute to project documentation, and drive scientific publications and patent applications.
- Stay current on advances in biosensor technologies, Fc biology, and novel approaches relevant to therapeutic molecule profiling.
- Engage with cross-functional colleagues across discovery, development, and clinical to share scientific insight and technical expertise to advance collective goals.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor's with 5+ years of experience; Master's, preferably with 2+ years of experience in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience in conducting biomolecular interaction assays using Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with chromatography equipment and methods (HPLC, FPLC, affinity chromatography, etc.) is strongly preferred.
- Experience in independently designing, troubleshooting, and optimizing experimental assays.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods.
- Experience communicating experimental results with clarity, both verbally and in writing, for a variety of scientific and regulatory audiences.
- Evidence of collaborative skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $80,653.60 - 120,980.40 USD Annual. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
