As the Director of Patient Services, you will implement AstraZeneca's strategy and execution in delivering innovative remote monitoring solutions that enhance patient care. This role is pivotal in maximising digital health technologies to support chronic disease management, optimize treatment outcomes, and drive patient engagement in their own healthcare journey. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of RPM initiatives with AstraZeneca’s broader patient services and digital health strategies.

Typical Accountabilities

Leadership in Remote Patient Monitoring Strategy:
Develop and implement AstraZeneca's RPM strategy, ensuring alignment with broader digital health objectives. Lead the integration of remote patient monitoring into existing patient support programs (PSP) to enhance patient engagement and care outcomes.

Digital Health Innovation & Deployment:
Lead the deployment of remote monitoring solutions across key therapeutic areas, particularly oncology, respiratory, cardiovascular, and other chronic diseases. Ensure the seamless integration of RPM technologies with existing healthcare systems to optimize data collection and patient management.

Partnerships and Collaboration:
Build and maintain strong partnerships with technology providers, healthcare systems, and other external partners to expand RPM capabilities. Collaborate closely with internal teams in medical, R&D, commercial, and IT to ensure the successful deployment and scaling of RPM solutions.

Patient-Centric Care Pathways:
Focus on the creation of personalized, data-driven care pathways that leverage RPM technologies to improve disease management and patient outcomes. Collaborate with the Head of Patient Services to ensure that RPM initiatives are patient-focused and integrated into AstraZeneca's comprehensive patient care strategy.

Monitoring and Performance Evaluation:
Define and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of RPM initiatives, focusing on clinical outcomes, patient experience, and operational efficiency. Work with analytics teams to gather and interpret data, continually optimizing the RPM approach to improve its impact.

Innovation in Chronic Disease Management:
Lead efforts to innovate new ways of using RPM to address complex therapeutic needs, including advanced therapies such as cell therapy, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), and radioconjugates. Establish RPM as a cornerstone of AstraZeneca's patient monitoring solutions for new modalities that require more intensive, real-time monitoring.

Regulatory and Compliance Oversight:
Ensure that all RPM technologies and programs align with relevant regulatory requirements, patient privacy standards (GDPR, HIPAA), and ethical guidelines. Collaborate with legal, regulatory, and compliance teams to navigate the complexities of global healthcare regulations.

Remote Care Ecosystem Development:
Build a comprehensive ecosystem around remote monitoring that includes not just patients but also caregivers, healthcare providers, and insurers. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide actionable insights derived from remote monitoring data, thereby improving treatment adjustments and patient support.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Proven track record in deploying RPM technologies or digital health platforms, particularly in chronic disease management. Experience in working across different therapeutic areas, especially oncology or cardiovascular, is highly desirable.

  • Experience working with external partners, particularly in technology or digital health sectors, to develop and scale healthcare solutions. Ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder relationships and deliver value through collaboration.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior partners across different functions and geographies.

  • Strong analytical skills to assess the impact of RPM initiatives on patient outcomes and business objectives. Ability to interpret data from monitoring devices and collaborate with analytics teams to improve program performance.

  • Knowledge of global regulatory requirements related to remote monitoring, digital health, and patient data protection, including compliance with GDPR and HIPAA.

  • A passion for patient outcomes and a deep understanding of the role that digital health technologies, especially RPM, can play in enhancing the patient experience and driving better health results.

  • Advanced science/life sciences degree and/or MBA/business qualification, with 10 years related experience.

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $173,693.60to $260,540.40, either as annual base pay or as the hourly rate (annual base pay divided by 2080 hours)]. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
